I bought this tv based on reviews, (all worth reading) , price, (amazon good value and delivery spot-on) and based on viewing the pictures of several tvs in store. It was for my mother for her kitchen. She had 15 inch analogue sony and went digital with this straight from digital aerial. although she has sony (from amazon) in lounge this was saved money and easily met requirements for the kitchen. 19 inch is really ideal for her but the samsung also looked brighter in the store so she went for this and is delighted at 81years old. simple to use - be patient on channel change( she in no hurry) and she has no problem remembering to turn power off. well pleased.

After some research on 19" TV's we settled on this Samsung one and so far it's been great.
The only negative things we can say about it is the internal speakers aren't amazingly powerful, but this isn't much of an issue as you can plug external speakers into it, and also it doesn't seem to have an internal battery to keep the time when you unplug it. As long as it's on standby it'll remember the time, but turn it off at the wall and the clock resets to midnight on Jan 1st. You have to keep resetting it each time you want to use the inbuilt timer, like recording programs, as it doesn't seem able to output the TV signals to external recording devices unless the TV itself is actually turned on (annoying when you want to save energy as standby mode uses lots of electricity still). The only way we've found to record programs from it when we're out is to use the "power-on" timer function to wake it up from standby just before the VCR starts.
Generally we're really happy with it though.

Unfortunately the tv didn't work at all . After I'd lugged it through a nursing home for installation for my elderly aunt we were not pleased.
MaybeI was just unucky.

This television is pretty much faultless. It's easy to set up and use and has many capabilities - many functional ports and so on.
The Freeview with it is brilliant BUT can be affected by which aerial you use. For example, I use the aerial I had for this television's predecessor and it works great but can get errors/interuptions with the reception when there's bad weather i.e. strong wind and heavy rain.
The picture quailty, when not connected to anything HD-wise, is fantastic anyway (that is, using the DTV option).
To conclude, this television is exceptional, fulfilling many, if not all, of any television user's needs. I highly recommend this TV especially for those seeking a set for somewhere like their bedroom or something similar - it's the perfect size.
I researched this product in depth and found Amazon to be the best place in which to purchase this product - concerning cost, delivery etc.

very good buy, looks well, the sound and picture is great, the only thing i will say is when you go to watch it from when its on standby is slow and can take up to 10 sec's, doesn't sound much but it gets annoying everytime you go to turn it on.
