5 out of 5 stars wii well why not   November 7, 2008

I have had the WII for a few month now and I can honestly say (although I only have 3 games includeing wii sports) Thos is the best console in the histroy of the worldnot only are the games gr8 but you can also download games from past consoles such as the megadrive, mastersystem, snes, n64 etc etc so if you are pineing for sonic 3 or Super Mario 64 you can get these for a nominal fee(you will need WII points for this 13.99for 2000)you can just download it and away you go if you have an old game cube controler you are all set(if not you will need to buy one but they are reletivly cheap) the best thing about the WII despite all this is these are the most fun games since the early to mid 90's and although being addictive you can easly just dip in and out mabye just playing an hour or half an hour and then just dip back in the next day or week or so i have been a fan of the nintendo systems since age 5 downloading emulators for the systems up to the n64 then i got this and it dosen't even come close if you want a nintendo system get this (or the ds if you want a portable) nintendo the great grandad of home consoles is back on top in conclusion buy this you will not find a better deal than amazons get a wii and choose a selected game for 10 (I recomend mario kart WII)you wo'nt regret it

5 out of 5 stars Excellent fun, easy to pick up, hard to put down.   November 6, 2008

Late last year, I purchased a Wii, a second controller and several games including: Mario Galaxy, Resident Evil 4, and Lego Star Wars. The magic with this littler machine is not the graphics, nor the games catalogue, but the pure and simple playability. This is the most fun anyone will have had on a console for years! It's good on you're own, but when in a group of friends, nothing is better! I found myself playing Wii Sports 70% of the time, and yes, you may think they're simple games, but a round of Golf or a game of Bowling with friends is amazing fun. It gives another dimension to games like Resident Evil 4 too, and as for Mario Galaxy... Amazing! You won't need to buy loads of games to get the value out of the Wii.

Let me put it this way, I'm a student at Uni, and had to sell it to pay tutition fees, since I've bought an Xbox360, to try out something new... I find myself missing the Wii.

2 out of 5 stars wii disappointment   October 27, 2008

I got a Wii after careful deliberation.
To be honest I am disappointed.
Over all the concept is excellent, but here's a list of things I wasn't prepared for, or expecting.

- Difficulty connecting to the internet.

-Buying a router (a modem is not good enough)

- Buying an expensive router to be on the safe side, then finding out it was incompatible.(Nintendo say some routers have incompatibility issues but they wont tell you which ones work or don't work...they say they are "more likely or less likely to be compatible".)

-Buying another router

-Very few Wii channels

-No free content

-When browsing the internet the memory constantly fills up.

-Web pages being incompatible with the stripped down Opera browser.

-Having to pay for the Opera browser. 500 points ( 4.50 approx)

-Loading screens! arrrggghh!!!

-Lots of things that you NEED that don't come with it e.g extra controller, gamecube pad.

When I was buying I asked around but no-one mentioned any of this stuff to me.
I hope this helps you so you are prepared to the cost not to stop at 179 + a game!

4 out of 5 stars Makes gaming "fun" again!   October 25, 2008

Got the Wii yesterday, and so far - I am impressed! A console that is decidely smaller than it seems when advertised in catalogues, and is in fact about the size of a "24" boxset, or other six DVD boxset package. The slight sized console tucks away neatly in TV cabinets and can be placed either horizontally or vertically.

The console itself to me, makes gaming fun again. Die hard gamers complain about graphics or depth to the games you can buy for the Wii - but essentially, the Wii makes games which are fun again. Remember
the days when games relied on gameplay rather than graphics? It's something lacking now in games, developers make games that look great, but sometimes they lack depth and gameplay, sometimes so difficult that they just become frustrating instead.

I found the Wii has excellent Wi-Fi support - It found and hooked up to my wireless router in seconds! The menus are easily navigated, though the remote takes some getting used to.

So, in summary, i would say for those who are casual gamers, who like games they can pick up and put down again and not have to spend hours scratching their heads remembering where they got to in a game, then the Wii is for you!

I've never been into consoles but at 28 i decided i wanted to try.

And i am hooked, its such a compulsive gadget that you just have to keep picking up and playing with, superb graphics and the range of games suits all tastes.
