Woolworths are trying to scare parents into spending vast sums of cash on toys early in the run-up to Christmas by promoting the fact stringent checks are being carried out on exports from China. This follows a story earlier in the year when high levels of lead were found in some Mattel toys.

Nick Hill the head of toys at Woolworths has suggested that stores could run out of this years’ Must Have’ presents. Well, if you ask me Woolworths are scare mongering and are looking to give parents a reason to visit their stores.

What Nick Hill and Woolworths seem unable to recognise is the fact there are plenty of other toy shops which don’t necessarily sell the plastic rubbish that is usually discarded within a matter of minutes after being opened.

What I would advise to parents or for anyone buying a gift for a child is to find a decent Toy Shop that sells traditional toys, wooden toys and educational toys.

Honestly a visit to Woolworths toy department is a vision of what your local municipal tip will look like in 6 months time, as ultimately this is where the majority of the plastic rubbish that is sold will end-up.

Unfortunately; today’s society is so crass, that Woolworths is a mecca for parents that put no real thought and feeling into buying toys for their children. It’s simply a mad-dash around the store to fill a trolley in is as quick as time as possible with no real thought or care.

Well my friends, there is an alternative to buying mass-produced planet-killing toys from Woolworths. Why not try looking for a traditional toy shop that sells wooden toys and educational toys?

There are plenty of great toy shops that only specialise in selling toys that have worth, meaning and value.

In fact why does anyone wanto shop at Woolworths? Their adverts featuring an annoying sheep are so irritating it makes me want to destroy the TV. Then there is the staff at Woolworths, I am sure there must be the odd decent person that works for Woolworths, but stone me ask a question about a toy and its value or its worth to a child and you will be greeted with a vacant expression.

Aren’t Woolworths only interested in profit, and not the development of a child?

Woolworths, stop trying to scare people into spending money early.

Parents, Try shopping at a decent toy shop where the staff actually have knowledge upon the toys they are selling.
