Travel Insurance - Do You Need Travel Insurance?

So have you got your summer holiday booked yet? Have you got your Travel Insurance yet? So what made you buy your Travel Insurance? Was it the pushy bint at your local travel shop who is on commission to flog you as many extras as possible?

Travel Insurance is big business, everyone is after your cash and as we all travel so much these days, is it an essential purchase?

Here’s the mindset - Your between 16 - 30 and you are going away on your annual lash-up to sunnier climbs; the question is ‘why the feck do I need travel insurance, what the hell is going to happen to me?’

Then perhaps there is the mindset of experienced travellers who have so much life insurance why the hell should they need travel insurance.

Personally, I think if you don’t get travel insurance you are bloody stupid. Accidents happen, luggage gets lost, things get stolen, planes get delayed.

For the sake of £50 what would be the point of not getting holiday cover?

I blagged the following quote for a family of four based on a two week holiday to Europe in August from Travel-Insurance.Net

Your Quote

As you can see the policy was only £32, to me that is an absolute snip - full family cover for next to no money.

IMPORTANT:
This is a summary of cover only.
You should read your policy schedule for details of precisely what you are and are not covered for.

So, lets say the worst thing happens whilst you are away on holiday. Let’s say you break your neck and you have and you have no travel insurance, then let me tell you this - you are buggered. The repatriation fees alone will cost you a huge amount of cash, that is not to mention medical bills etc.

From what I recall a plane home from Spain back in the early nineties for a medical emergency was something in the region of £20,000, and here’s the scary part accidents happen, and if you were too bloody lazy to not get travel insurance then you are going to get shafted should the worse happen.

Cega Air based down at Goodwood, Sussex offer a full repatriation service throughout the world. I know for a fact that if you are not insured one of the first things they will look at is credit cards and then personal equity or the equity of your immediate family.

Everyone and their dog seems to be selling Travel Insurance, yes even Tesco (see previous blog). All I will say is read the small print of the policy before accepting it, know what the policy is about, ask question. know what the excess fees are etc.

Seriously, if you don’t get holiday cover and travel insurance - you are class#1 twat!
