The Travel Insurance Debate

There is much talk at the moment about Travel Insurance and just how necessary it really is.

There is an article on AJC.com which talks about how some experts are in fact saying that Travel Insurance is not needed. How people are covered for numerous things by things other than a travel insurance policy, such as a homeowner’s policy.

This is in complete contrast with an article on Newswire.ca, which highlights the medical costs that can be incurred should you not take out a travel insurance policy, which, in comparison, is a fraction of the cost of treatment you may need should you become injured.

The article highlights a few average costs you may incur in certain instances:

* Respiratory - pneumonia, asthma, bronchitis - $2,730
* Accident, injury - $2,110
* Digestion - stomach problems, food poisoning, ulcers, gallstones $2,754
* Infection, skin, blood, ear - $655

These are to name a few, and when you look at the price of a travel insurance policy, it really is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

These conditions can be triggered whilst abroad. Respiratory problems can arise from polluted air in major cities. Accidents can occur through leisure activities such as skiing, jet skiing and parascending.

There is little argument when you consider the possible consequences should you not have adequate travel insurance cover. With policies available at very competitive prices, not taking out travel insurance is surely a risk too big to take?
