Supermarket Disabled Parking - TESCOS

Yes folks, I am back on the disabled parking bit, but now it’s time to take the major supermarkets to task - so fat people and old people you can take a back seat as its the lily livered Tescos of the world that I am just about to slate.OK, we all use them - Supermarket Car Parks

And of course Supermarket car parks have disabled parking facilities.

There are of course Supermarkets that have very good disabled parking facilities and there are those that have totally inedaquate parking facilities.

So let me start off the series by highlighting who I think to be the worst offenders.

TESCO

TESCO - The UK’s largest chain of supermarkets has by?far the worst disabled facilities - Let’s take their West Durrington store, which?incidentally is surrounded?by Chav town central - you will not find a more unpleasant shopping experience than shopping here - it is littered with?too many?scumbag patrons?for which many deserved to be shot at?birth.

The disabled parking at West Durrington Tesco is shit, simple as. There are too few spaces and the spaces that are available are usually taken with people that have no disabliity other than the fact they are ignorant scumbags who don’t give a shit.

So what is the UK’s number one Supermarket doing about it? Answer - Bugger All! Nor do they want to do anything about it

I wrote to Tesco head office in Cheshunt, Herts?eight years ago to tackle them on the issue of the inedequate disabled parking at its West Durrington branch.?I also cited the gross misuse of the disabled parking facilities?by its hordes of illiterate customers.

Do you know what Tesco did/has done? That’s right, NOTHING!

Oops, I tell a lie,?they sent me a ?5 voucher to shut me up! Well that really tackled the issue!

Tesco are spineless idiots who are not doing enough to protect the patrons who have special needs.

The solution is so easy, but the Tesco corporation is scared of upsetting the chavs who may of course burn down the store in a fit of rage.

  1. Proper policing of the disabled parking area by Tesco in-store security guards
  2. Clamps for non-disabled people abusing the disabled bays: should you get caught abusing the disabled parking area you would pay a minor release fee (say ?10) to go to a local childrens charity.

So why would did the bosses at Tesco not go for that? - FEAR, plain and simple - Tesco will dare upset it’s Chavvy customers. Tesco will not do the sensible thing and police their parking facilities.

Plain and simple at the West Durrington branch there are not proportionate numbers of parking spaces for disabled people - considering the fact that 10% of the UK population is disabled in one form or another (Chavs do not count as disabled) I would take an educated guess and say that no more than 3% of the car parking at West Durrington Tesco is designated for disabled people - well Tesco, shame on you.

You have shite disabled parking facilities and you do nothing about the disabled parking abuse.

So fellow cripsters, I want you to tell me your tales of woe about your local?Tesco store and the disabled parking, feel free to slate them as much as you want or indeed praise them if you feel need.

It’s the same at Asda in our town, except that they have plenty of disabled parking right near the main door and there are ALWAYS fit, able people using them. Why? Idleness thats what. Is that a recognisable disability?

When one of them was questioned he said that he was going in to buy a portable TV and didn’t want to carry it too far because he had a cold! What the fuck! It was a PORTABLE TV for Christ’s sake, they are made to be carried about.

Oh, I forgot to tell you, he looked about 25-30ish and obviously very fit.

Again, the store people didn’t want to do anything in case they upset the customers.

You see I think that twat deseved to have the TV smashed over his head so he then would know what it was like to be a bit funny in the head.

Don’t get me wrong there are some right grumpy bastard disabled people about and a lot of them are piss takers. I would review the Blue Badge system, it is abused like mad.

Bring back stocks!

I think that you have painted a very unfair picture of Tescos Durrington, yes it was built at the time in a council estate but it also serves the more affluant living in goring and sorrounding areas.
Not all the shoppers are chavs and not only that I have seen many middle aged and able bodied oaps that have used disabled parking.
The chavs of durrington dont have the inteligance to park in disabled bays, due to their inability to park in a single bay.

To help lighten the load on your shoulders, you should also consider every other business in every retail park in every town.

tesco’s are the worst poeple who don’t give a dam about the disabled I take my disabled mother to tesco’s every week in manchester just to find people that are able to walk but just put there cars in the disabled bays just because they are to lazy to walk the extra phew steps to the shop I think tesco’s should get there acted togeather and find ways to stop abled bodyed people using the disabled parking bays or have a traffic warends looking at the disabled badages with a police officer so they can be booked and fine £1,000 for miss use of the badage have the car clamped and removered tesco’s make millions of pounds every mouth from the shopper its about time they started to spend some of the proffits

What I want to know is what is all this “parent and child” parking all about?

In what way is it harder for them to walk further to the supermarket door?

They should get rid of these stupid bays and make more disabled ones!!

I have enjoyed reading your comments regarding disabled parking at TESCOS. I am the operations manager for Approved Parking Services which is a wheel clamping company who specilaise in policing disabled bays in shopping centres and south eastern train stations. We currently work with local councils checking badges to check if there genuine as like you have mentioned there are also alot abled body people with badges, this is of course a crimmal offence to misuse the badge in this way. We have written to and spoken with tesco numerous times about running a system in there car parks which is free of charge to them, as we believe the only people who should pay are the people who are mis-using the disabled bays, but so far we have had no response. So it would seem there is an easy solution to this problem but it is not being taken

Tom, I cannot say that I am a car clampers best friend; I find the breed well over the top in their attitude; that said, I think you have a valid service to offer.

Tesco is so not wanting to offend its majority able-bodied customers, it would never entertain a valid system that would penalise those that openly flout the system.

I would be interested to write about your solution on MrCrip; please give us more information.

WOW..great site and big up to you for fighting for the Blue Badge brigade. Unfortunately my wife is disabled.

We have just returned from France where parking illegally in a Disabled slot is very much frowned upon. They have signs up saying “You can have my disabled parking slot, as long as you also have my disability!” Talk about a guilt trip, but brilliant !!!

When ever we parked in a disabled slot, people would stop and watch to see if we were really disabled. Once they see my wife has a stick and can’t walk well, they wander off, satisfied. We tried to park in a disabled slot in Calais and a guy stopped next to us waving his finger to say it was for disabled people only. We showed him the blue badge and he apologised, smiled and drove off. Can you imagine that in the UK???

Only yesterday, we saw a young couple in an M reg blue Mondeo in Morrisons (East Dereham, Norfolk) park in a disabled slot and run into the store. Nothing was said or done by the staff or people around. Maybe it’s because this country has lost it’s moral values? Maybe it’s because of the fear of violence? Either way, it grips my sh1t.

Another thing that annoys me are the “mother and child” bays. What’s that all about. Why on earth does a 20 yr old fit and healthy mother with a pushchair and 3 healthy little shits running around need to park near the friggin entrance? Surely, with the demographics of the population veering towards the elderly, we should have senior citizens slots near the entrances..not fit, young and healthy sparking slots? Grrrrr…this country has gone up the wall!

Rant over..fire away!

Stop whining, that store is old, small and so is the car park overcrowded due to too many customers. Plus they want to knock it down anyway and rebuild a bigger store with better parking and disabled facilities for all customers anyway.

Rob, I assume you are either one of the scummy people that shops at this Tesco store or you actually work for Tesco. You have said nothing that we didn’t know. The fact is, the West Durrington store is a shit-pit and in the main is used by chavvy scumbags.

found your website while looking for a way to make a complaint to tesco.
I agree with everything you have said regarding disabled parking at tesco.
My complaint though, is about trolleys that attach to wheelchairs, Our local Tesco at Heanor in Derbyshire (24 hr branch) possesses one of these trollies. This saga has gone on for months,
Usually my husband has to trail round the whole car park looking for it, or we hang around and wait for someone else to finish their shopping!
My old man isn’t much for complaining, so he sort of wheels me away when I kick off!! When I tried to complain to the supervisor she said they used to have six! (must have been years ago!) and the best thing we could do would be to phone before we go and she’ll hide it till we get there!!!
What about some other poor bugger in a wheelchair that might get there before us!
Might check out disability rights commission, in effect they are stopping people in wheelchairs from shopping in their store.
Tesco must be really struggling if they can’t buy a couple of wheelchair trolleys.
Grrrrrr it makes me so fucking angry

Tesco have opened a new store in Portman Road, Reading Berks. The parking is as follows: Family nearest door, next is General Parking then disabled parking furthest away from door! I have complained and been told the managers have met to discuss the many compaints and have decided to leave it as it is because “theres more room for them over there”
I have written to complain and yes youve guessed, no reply.

I don’t necessarily agree disabled spaces should be near to a store.

As a wheelchair user it is a case of needing a wide bay. My problem is the morons who park in wide bays because they have more room to offload their stack full of shopping.

I don’t want a space near the store. I want a space that I can safely put my wheelchair together.

Tesco’s is just as bad in my town. I complained to the sercurity supervisor last week as 9 out of 12 bays were filled with cars without Blue Badges - the response, which was rather shocking was ‘Oh well, see, that’s ok, as it’s the evening we let anyone park there, Disabled people don’t want to shop in the evenings.’

No word of a lie, planning to complain as I was so shocked at the attitude! It drives me crazy!
