Singstar 90s - The Review, Part 1

I love Singstar; it is one of the best games released on the ever popular PS2, and now that Singstar 90s has hit the shops, it was time to splash the cash. Firstly I get all my Singstar Games from SingstarShop.co.uk, this is a site that is dedicated to all things Singstar and features all game versions including Singstar Bollywood which is due for release in October 2007.

Singstar 90s Back to the hear and now - Singstar 90’s. I have to say that when I ordered this new Singstar game I was really looking forward to it dropping through my door, and to that extent, I was not disappointed.

I have to say to say though after closer inspection of the songs and picking up the microphone for a bash, I was left underwhelmed. Billed as the best hits of the 90s, here are my thoughts on the first 15 songs on Sony’s Singstar 90s.

All Saints - Never Ever - I always thought the song was pants when it came out, Never Ever is definitely one for the ladies, I would need serious alcohol to perform it - 1/5

Aqua - Barbie Girl - I had to sing this tonight; I enjoyed purely because I always fancied the bird in the video even if she did have flat breasts! Good for the kids - 4/5

B52’s - Love Shack - Simply awesome tune, and it ports across well to Singstar 90s for the Karaoke treatment - 5/5

Barenaked Ladies - One Week - Never heard of it, never going to sing it - 0/5

Billy Ray Cyrus - Achey Breaky Heart - Just passable, but only after 8 pints of wife beater - 1/5

Crash Test Dummies - Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm - I liked this tune when it came out, but I have grown up since then and grown hair on my gonads now, so the song has lost its appeal - 2/5

Divinyls - I Touch Myself - They’re right, I do! But this tune doesn’t touch me in the slightest! - 0/5

EMF - Unbelievable - Get the party started, EMF are in the house good tune, good party tune - 5/5

Gin Blossoms - Hey Jealousy - Again, never heard of it, never going to sing it - 0/5

Lisa Loeb - Stay -I always wanted to see Lisa Loeb naked, I did knock a few out whilst her video was doing the rounds back in the 90s. I can’t imagine singing it even if my life depended on it! - 0/5

MC Hammer - U Can’t Touch This - Good tune, but I’m useless rapping on Singstar, I need a soul injection for a high score on any rap related tune - 4/5

Meredith Brooks - Bitch - Another song for the women, I thought it was awful when it was realised and my opinion has not changed. Meredith Brooks is a bitch for releasing such rubbish all them years ago. 0/5

M People - Movin’ On Up - Another injection of soul is required for my awful tones to compete on this one, good tune though - 4/5

Natalie Imbruglia - Torn - Holy mother of Christ, MrsCrip beat me on this one, a shock to say the least! A funny song for a bloke to sing - 3/5

New Kids On The Block - Step By Step - If ever I wanted a group of people to die in a Road Traffic Accident during the 90’s then New Kids on the Block were those people! There is more chance of Christopher Reeve coming back to life then me either singing or enjoying any song they ever made! 0/5
