Ignoring Travel Insurance is stupid

I was reading on Travel Insurance Direct yesterday that as many as 50% of travellers are still not buying Travel Insurance when they are off on their travels.

This is one of the stupidest, cheap things to do. If you are travelling overseas, you need Travel Insurance, it is that simple.

No one is immortal, no one can predict he future, no one knows when disaster is going to strike.

So why are there STILL so many people that are prepared to forgo Travel Insurance when you can be so lost without it.

I have heard plenty of horror stories where people have gone abroad and have suffered problems.

The case for Travel Insurance

Worst case scenario: You are hospitalised in a foreign country and you need to have an Air Ambulance bring you back to the UK, if you have Travel Insurance you are covered. If you are not covered because you did not take out Travel Insurance you can think about a £20,000 - £60,000 bill just for emergency repatriation!

OK, that is worst case scenario, but in this life you can never say never.

Believe me, companies such as Cega Air based at Goodwood will be looking at your credit cards and even mortgage arrangements in order to fund a flight home. Medical emergencies happen, someone, somewhere on a holiday this summer is going to be very glad they had Travel Insurance or very sorry they didn’t.

The case against buying Travel Insurance

There isn’t one, you’re stupid, case closed.

How much for Travel Insurance?

A family of four travelling to a European destination for a two week duration can be covered by Travel Insurance for only £32*. That works out at £2.28 a day, less than a pint of beer!

If you can afford to take the holiday, you can afford to take the Travel Insurance.
