Government grants for FREE solar panels

Yes it’s true, the government are going to give every household and business landlord in the UK a grant for solar panels. The government think tank reports that in 10 years time Britain will no longer require to burn fossil fuels to create electricity.

OK, I lied, the government are not going to give everyone the opportunity to get solar panels on the cheap and reduce household bills. Don’t be stupid, that would put the power companies out of business and the scum which is the British government would lose millions of pounds in revenue.

Here’s a stat (note, it may confuse the simple that visit this site)

Did you know each year the planet absorbs solar energy to the tune of 3,850 zettajoules (ZJ) per year.

Here’s the thing in 2005, the planet consumed a total of 0.0567 ZJ. Do you see where I am coming from. There is no need for us to be burning fossil fuels, there is no need for us to be suffering ridiculously high energy prices.

Solar panels

If the UK Government and other governments were serious about the planet, they would make it law for all households to be fitted with solar panels.

I want answers to the following questions……….

  1. Why do the government not make it statutory for all new house-builds to have solar panels?
  2. Why are the government not making householders have solar panels?
  3. Why is the labour government even thinking of Nuclear power when there is free energy beaming down on us every day?
  4. When are the British people going to wake-up and smell the bloody coffee and do something about being constantly ripped off.

Just imagine, with all the billions that Alastair Darling spunked on Northern Rock, how many households could have been supplied and fitted with a solar panel system?

For just £200 million, the government could have fitted 100,000 household with solar panels. Just imagine people - The government have the means to give you cheaper utility bills - BUT THEY CHOOSE NOT TOO, is it not about time for solar panels for all households?

It’s the fault of the oil and nuclear lobbyists who worm their way into the heart of the New Labour Sleaze Emporium. These scumbags will do anything for their clients; ie Gas, Oil, Nuclear, etc. If the government wasn’t so corrupt, and the Green Party was in charge, solar panels would be everywhere.

Azi, I agree, it’s money controlling money - You can be sure the frikkin oil and energy men are behind this bullshit. I have never been a fan of The Green Party - but do you know what, I’m joining up.

Whilst the wallets are in charge the planet is going to continue to get raped of all natural resource.

Food and Oil prices would fall immediately if we all switched to solar.

The planet is doomed with turds like Gordon Brown in charge.

you are so naieve mr crip and i have the utmost respect for your views n the main but come on we will still need nuclear or gas or caol for when the sun doesnt shine or the wind doesnt blow..something the green party dont want to know

Photovoltaic is the way forward

See what the Wiki has to say on it:

Advantages

* The 89 petawatts of sunlight reaching the earth’s surface is plentiful - almost 6,000 times more - compared to the 15 terawatts of average power consumed by humans.[83] Additionally, solar electric generation has the highest power density (global mean of 170 W/m²) among renewable energies.[83]
* Solar power is pollution free during use. Production end wastes and emissions are manageable using existing pollution controls. End-of-use recycling technologies are under development.[84]
* Facilities can operate with little maintenance or intervention after initial setup.
* Solar electric generation is economically superior where grid connection or fuel transport is difficult, costly or impossible. Examples include satellites, island communities, remote locations and ocean vessels.
* When grid-connected, solar electric generation can displace the highest cost electricity during times of peak demand (in most climatic regions), can reduce grid loading, and can eliminate the need for local battery power for use in times of darkness and high local demand; such application is encouraged by net metering. Time-of-use net metering can be highly favorable to small photovoltaic systems.
* Grid-connected solar electricity can be used locally thus reducing transmission/distribution losses (transmission losses were approximately 7.2% in 1995).[85]
* Once the initial capital cost of building a solar power plant has been spent, operating costs are extremely low compared to existing power technologies.
* Compared to fossil and nuclear energy sources, very little research-money has been invested in the development of solar cells, so there is much room for improvement. Nevertheless, experimental high efficiency solar cells already have efficiencies of over 40% and efficiencies are rapidly rising while mass production costs are rapidly falling

Really, it is very valuable idea. I hope to be applied in my country.

A local man I know recently bought a bungalow, to which the previous owner had fitted solar panels, in a nearby village. The roof needed to be re-tiled because the bungalow was quite old.

When he applied to the local Council for a grant (he’s an OAP) they did a survey of the property and told him that because he had solar panels, which added value to his property, his rates would be increased by as much as £3 a week and he would be in a higher tax-band anyway! Unbelievable!

He told they to stick the grant where the sun doesn’t shine (pun intended), got a second mortgage and had the roof repaired and the solar panels removed and taken to the local landfill site.

The c*nts at the town hall saw a way of getting extra money out of an old man and tried to take it, but it backfired on them. Why should we have to pay them for a service that they DON’T provide? My friend worked out that it was cheaper to pay for energy to heat his water than use the panels and pay the Council for the privilege.

So much for saving the environment. I once had a small wind-generator on a pole for powering my shed and amateur radio equipment and I was told that I needed planning permission and to take it down or else, but that’s another story. . . .

Chris Farrel is absolutely right. If you want modern society to continue functioning we will need coal or nuclear as we need bulk production of energy for industry and a backup for the grid.
However, if we are just looking at the domestic market - i.e. Homes and offices then we should be looking at self generation and small scale shared community schemes.
I doubt this will happen in the near future of course because then big power companies (no names mentioned) will not be able to rip-off the population any more.
Only then will fuel poverty be a thing of the past.
Unfortiunately, this would require a concerted effort and commitment by the government to make this happen and
I am fraid I doubt their sincerity in solving the fuel crisis.

Amanda, we all know homes throughout the UK could be using solar or photo-voltaic technology.

I think it is sick the government are allowing the power companies to go on ripping people off when they should be doing more to subsidise us all in converting to an energy-efficient way.
