Columus Insurance - Ski Insurance Price Comparison
Now we compare ski insurance policies between Columbus Direct and Travel Insurance Direct.
The same rules: identical individual worldwide policies including the USA and Canada for one person with cover lasting for 15 days starting in December.
Price wise, the Travel Insurance Direct quote comes in quite a bit cheaper at £65 while the quote from Columbus Direct is over £15 dearer at £81.60.
The maximum payout for medical attention from Columbus Direct is massively less than the Travel Insurance Direct policy at £1 million, with cover from TID offering a maximum payout of £10 million.
In fact, Travel Insurance Direct offers a higher payout on almost every other policy feature, with the highest differences being an extra £1000 for personal effects and baggage, £5000 for personal accident, £1 million for personal liability and £5000 for legal expenses.
The Travel Insurance Direct ski insurance policy also offers a much more comprehensive form of cover, providing cover for different eventualities such asairline failure, mugging, pet care, hijack and avalanche closure, all of these are not offered by Columbus Direct.
Below are quotes from Travel Insurance Direct and Columbus Direct based on 1 adult who is below the age of 65, traveling up to 15 days to a worldwide destination including the USA and Canada:
| Columbus Direct |
TID | |
| Medical | £1,000,000 | £10,000,000 |
| Personal Possessions | £500 | £1,500 |
| Personal Money | - | £500 |
| Cancellation/Curtailment | £1,000 | £3,000 |
| Personal Liability | £1,000,000 | £2,000,000 |
| Delayed Departure | £100 | £800 |
| Legal Expenses | £10,000 | £15,000 |
| Price | £81.60 | £65 |
Price wise, the Travel Insurance Direct quote is a lot cheaper than the policy from Columbus Direct. The actual details of the quote itself are very different, with the difference in payouts being huge in some cases in favour of TID.
So once again Travel Insurance Direct is the definite winner, offering a much higher level of cover with more options and much higher payouts should you need to make a claim.
