Booking Online Not Essential for Online Travel Operators
Booking a holiday through an online travel agent can be as painful as giving birth to a twenty stone sumo wrestler – sideways!
If you are like me and you want your holiday the way you want it, the dropdown boxes that only offers you 3, 7 or 14 days, when really you’re after 10 can leave you as frustrated as a spare prick in an orgy, and this is before you have even tried to tell the form that you would like to add an extra tour to your holiday.
That said, booking online can sometimes be an easy and enjoyable process, with flights, transfers and accommodation all booked through the website.
Online booking is something online travel agent Tropical Sky has chosen to stay away from, preferring the person to person tailor made approach instead.
So what is the better approach, and can we really get tailor made holiday exactly how we want it through an online booking form?
It really depends on the type of holiday you are looking for. If it is a weekend city break you are seeking, then online booking can be perfect and can even save you money, but when it comes to the bespoke tailor made holiday, that may involve deviations around your typical package holiday such as extra nights at one hotel, less nights at another, twinning two destinations to create a multi-centre package and even adding tours to your holiday, this is where online booking can really make the process a difficult and stressful one.
From my own experience, it is nice to have the ability to add a few extra nights and take one or two away here and there and add some hotel extras on, and I have found that this is only really possible with the tailor made approach, and booking online has never really allowed me the functionality required to fulfil all these different needs.
The method adopted by Tropical Sky goes to prove that you don’t need to offer online booking facilities to be successful in the Travel industry, quite the opposite and Tropical Sky have been acknowledged for their excellence by receiving Tour Operator of the Year 2007 in the Sunday Times Travel Magazine Experts awards.
