Amazon.co.uk Review The Braun Silk Epil Xpressive 7280 removes hair at the root which ensures smooth skin for as long as possible. This process doesn't hurt as much as you may think due to the massage system which stimulates the skin before the hair is removed and soothes it afterwards.
This is the easiest way to remove hair at home without the mess of shaving and if you go to a beautician to get waxed, save yourself the money and buy this epilator.
Another great benefit to the epilator is the fact that the hair that re-grows is fine and soft - no more stubble. -- Rhian Munday, amazon.co.uk

Fancier than required? October 29, 2008 Dinky The things I do for veracity: I waited about three or four weeks to grow my leg and underarm hair to do this review. I'd just used my old, basic epilator when I saw this on the newsletter, so I didn't have much to work with when it came in the post. Thank goodness it's getting colder now, so I didn't have to show off hairy legs and armpits. Anyhoo. Before I tried out the Xpressive 7280, I'd been using my basic epilator -- no attachments, no pre-depilation wipes -- on my legs. I tweezed the hairs on my armpits weekly: once you've got a routine and you keep up with it, the fine hairs are a doddle to remove. I hardly feel them when I pull the fine hairs out. (Do it once a week, and you'll probably see what I mean.) So, suddenly I had wiry armpit hair again so I could try out this product. I had to trim them before using the epilator, so I got to use the shaver and comb attachments: straightforward but, as predicted in the manual and as expected, I got some redness. Also, there was discomfort. The discomfort went after I had a shower and the redness was down by the time I got dressed the morning after, so no problem. I have had a few armpit hairs growing a week after -- unless they were hairs that I'd missed -- but I used tweezers to get them. Getting the epilator out seemed a bit overkill... The light was useful when I did my leg hairs, but I still missed a couple of hairs on my knees -- which I always do. I guess although the manual's advice to depilate in the evening makes sense (to let any redness calm down overnight), missing some hairs might be an inevitability. At least, until I get the hang of using this particular model. (I would like to point out at this juncture that I am nearsighted, but then I imagine lots of people in their 40's are.) I also tried this epilator -- as an epilator and a trimmer -- on my bikini area and, as predicted in the manual and unsurprisingly, it hurt. But I don't think it's the epilator's fault. It IS a sensitive area, duh. My problem is the transition from my simple, easy-to-use, basic models (my basic epilator and my trusty tweezers) to this fancy, new, bells-on one: I'm not sure the adjustment's worth the effort. As far as I can see, it does the same job to the same standard or slightly worse, given that (1) I've developed my tweezing to a fine art and (2) stretching the skin on my underarms while trying to manouver the Xpressive 7280 as I look in the mirror is... er, tricky, to put it politely. And I always seem to see one or two hairs on my knees a day or two after I've epilated whichever epilator I've used. Usually, I see them when I haven't got the epilator anywhere near me, too. Grr. Will I use the Xpressive again? If I have the time -- say I'm on holiday and I remembered to pack it if I've gone somewhere -- then I might. At least the carry bag for it is rather neat and compact and looks good. The fancy bits are a good idea, in theory, but unless or until I train myself to use them efficiently and quickly, sorry, I have other things to do. I haven't got time to cope with all the palaver. In my everyday life, I'm probably going to fall back on my old favourites.
A bit plasticky October 27, 2008 Frozen Books (UK) This looks the biz. A well designed pretty shaver that would appeal to women of all ages. Unfortunately I didn't think for the price that it lives up to expectations. The heads are cheap and plastic looking and the accessories the same. My husband has a men's Braun shaver and it's fab, sturdy, solid and glides over the skin. This is a poor relation. Forget the look and buy a man's version, better made and who sees it anyway.
Ouch October 23, 2008 Cat (UK) Wowza, this is painful. I am a complete girl with a very low pain threshold, so its no surprise that this was painful. It's easy to use, and if you can deal with pain, then it does get easier. Because the hair comes out at the root, it grows back softer and far slower than shaving. From a aesthetic viewpoint, its pretty and pink and girlie, but oh my does it hurt!
Good, smooth and easy to use October 16, 2008 KMW (England) I got this for my sister-in-law and she is thrilled with it and says it's the best one she has ever used, giving good smooth results. The only negative point is that it isn't rechargeable so you'll need to be near a shaver point or use a shaver adapter for use with 3-pin power sockets.
Not a cruel & unusual punishment!! October 8, 2008 Mr. D. J. Carr (London, England) I was a little concerned at the thought of this machine scouring the skin - though not as concerned as my lady friend!! I need not have worried. After one go, she was hooked. Very easy to use, not painful, very effective, and a great saving over visits to the beautician. Highly recommended.
