I bought this product about 18 months ago. Although the kit comes with lots of bits and pieces that I'd never use, the base unit felt solid. I managed to get about 12 cuts from the 7mm plastic comb attachmnet before the little plastic leg that holds it onto the unit failed, I've had about half that number of cuts before the 9mm comb also failed. I'm now using the 12mm attachment and wondering whether platting my hair might be needed in the not too distant future. I've tried ringing the Remington UK contact phone number for help, but that's always engaged.

Firstly, I didn't buy my set of these clippers via Amazon, but thought I'd post a review anyway.
The price of these has slowly been creeping upwards over the last 3 or so months, which is the reason I grabbed a pair of these clippers off of eBay while they were still (barely) cheaper than any of the sellers here.
I used them for the first time last night after giving them the full 16 hour charge (well my wife did all the hard work!) and can say that they do give a nice clean cut without the randomly missed odd long hairs that my old set of corded Babyliss clippers left behind.
It's a bonus that these are cordless, and the main reason that I chose this pair, although the voltage as has previously been mentioned is only 3V's, and a combination of this plus a smaller cutting head than my old Babyliss meant that it took slightly longer to cut my hair (I normally go for a #6 or 4 on top, graded down to a #1 at the nape of my neck). My wife commented that they didn't seem as powerful as my old clippers, but they still seemed to do the job well.
After re-reading some of the other reviews on here I am concerned about the cutting attachments durability - they seem sturdy enough for now, but differ from my old clippers in that they slide onto the blades then lock in place, whereas my old set just clipped on.
The ceramic blade seems sturdy enough though and hopefully the hype about it not needing maintenance will remain true.
For now I'll give these 4 stars based on first use and confidence in the brand name. Just hope I haven't spoken too soon! (I'll keep hold of my old Babyliss clippers just in case!)

 Very weak blade guards October 12, 2008

I bought these to replace some Remington Clipper I bought about 7 years ago and gave good service.
These however, are much cheaper/flimsier. The guards that you clip on to determine the cut length are very fragile. I managed to break my first one on day one. The guard just fell off the clippers during a cut causing me to have a shorter bit. I had to cut my hair with the shortest guard afterwards to make it all match.
I have since broken the clips that hold the guards on three times and the actual 'teeth' on two guards.
Otherwise I suppose the clippers are OK. They don't grab/pull like some. But the overall build quality is poor.
Personally, I would look at a more industrial style set of clippers, you know, like barbers use.

I used that clipper 7 times, and I have to glue one of 8 attachable comb guides 3 times already!!! I was very careful when I'm using clipper but that plastic thing can be easily broken.
For me that was waste of my money.

Bought mainly as a beard trimmer, this looks and feels good, but doesn't do half the job that my old mains Wahl would do. Doesn't cut a close or as many - leading to multiple attempts to reduce the facial undergrowth.
Cuts hair OK and the box and accessories are nice.
