Is the Epson V200 scanner compatable with Vista? December 3, 2008 Mark Hovis Is the Epson V200 compatable with Vista? Vista is not mentioned in the manufacurers specification under "Supported Platforms" Mark
great value November 5, 2008 blues picker Bought this on the strength of two things - reviews and price. Couldn't be more pleased with it. OK it's not the best in the world but for my purposes it fits the bill very well. Didn't cost the earth, scans documents and film at a very acceptable quality and has sufficient user control to make it that bit more flexible without being at all difficult to operate.
satified customer October 31, 2008 Mr. T. Bray I purchased the Epson Perfection v200, for 67.32. I ordered on the 29th oct, expecting to wait a few days, but on the 31oct the scanner arrived. Seems to work ok with the slides and film I used (some 30 years old), excellent service from Amazon, and a good product. Anyone tell me how to transfer from the file manager to a folder??? would be grateful, thank you. Got it before money taken from Bank. That cant be bad.
Great value October 28, 2008 Robert Cunningham (United Kingdom) Haven't had a chance to test it in detail yet but the quality, especially for a scanner of this price, and for a scanner generally is very good - I have scanned a few film slides and documents and these all with basically the default settings were excellent and fast enough for me (an average user). I followed the setup instructions step by step and had no setup issues at all. I would point out that Epson could improve the overall feel of the software included - the install left multiple folders and duplicate shortcuts in my start menu and the software feels a little bit at times, from the user interface side, like a collection of programs rather than a suite. This does not impact on the ability to use the scanner though. I cannot give it five stars though as it arrived with a very slight 'film' of something on the UNDERNEATH of the glass scan area which forced me to take the scanner apart to clean it off. Overall I would recommend this to anyone looking for a budget scanner or even something breaking into the mid-range. One thing other manufacturers could take some note of is the quality of the cabling - lovely rubber feel to the USB cable which has already lost nearly all of its kinks (I have a USB cable, I think from a monitor, which is nearly five years old and despite best efforts is still in a mess).
Hesitant But Pleasant October 11, 2008 G. Bright (Derbyshire, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After ten years, my faithful Visioneer scanner finally packed up, so I chose the Epson Perfection as its successor. My main reasons for being attracted to this particular model were its resolution and ability to scan negatives and slides. Neither of which disappointed - the scanning speed was wonderfully fast and preparing negatives/slides inside the special frame wasn't too tricky once one figured out the basics. Admittedly I did have some trouble working out what the Document Cover was, before discovering its something clipped onto the scanner lid to keep the light used only for film scanning shielded when not in use. This can be a little fiddly to get back in place once you've taken it off. Additionally, while the scanning speed is rapid, the machine is more hesitant when initializing a scan. Not that noticeable if you're only intending to scan a page or two, but when I was processing hundreds of small panels, it became very apparent. The scanner opens from the left side in a book-type fashion, I guess since most people are expected to put it on their right to account for right-handedness. However, I have no space on that side of my desk so I have to put up with reaching over a little way to get the paper in. This isn't too major an issue, though. The power button on the front is a very handy feature, since my old scanner would stay on unless you unplugged it from the mains. Alongside its energy efficiency while running, this makes it a good choice for saving a few pennies. My biggest qualm has to be with the scanner software, which has recently developed an annoying glitch that causes it to shut down after every three scans. I don't know whether this is my computer or just the way the software is programmed. The scanner itself is a worthy buy, and well recommended!
