1 out of 5 stars NOT AS DISCRIBED   November 6, 2008
Mr. S. Lord
I bought this as a gift for someone who liked my 9200T.

Although this discription says there is USB port for downloading music and pictures to the unit there is NO USB port of any sort!!!

It was the picture download that was the attractive feature.

5 out of 5 stars Simple, it just works!   November 1, 2008

I would echo the other positive reviews, this is a great hard drive recorder for a sensible price. The fan noise is noticeable when you are close, although I don't notice it now during normal viewing. I was impressed by how easy it was to record exactly what I wanted, at the touch of a button. The Humax turned-on, recorded everything perfectly and then went into low-power standby. Which is just how it should be!

Quality seems very good for the price, the unit feels sturdy, and well put together. A subtly designed case with no garish display means the Humax is unobtrusive. The manual is generally well-written and easy to understand, which makes a nice change.

The built-in games seem an odd inclusion (although fun for a while), and my control is oversensitive when changing channels and settings etc. so a light touch is needed otherwise you tend to over-shoot, but these are just minor niggles. When I have spare cash I am definitely going to buy this model for my parents too.

Just sending the humax pvr 9150T back.Ive already got a thompson which is fairly noisy. This one is TWICE as noisy. The picture quality is definately worse and it is 10 times more awkward and difficult to use.It was a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire!

1 out of 5 stars Humax PVR9150T Series link is useless!   October 21, 2008

I've bought one of these boxes from Comet, seems pretty impressive.

BUT;
In my opinion the series link is useless with this box, if the broadcaster transmit the program outside the time mentioned in the EPG, e.g. The Bill is supposed to start at 8pm but, usually starts a minute or 2 before, so I end up missing the start!
So, if a programme starts later than EPG time, you miss the end of the programme!

If I go to the record settings & change the start record settings to 1 or 2 minutes early the series link is lost for all of the list in the recording schedule.

(I do not have this problem with Sky+ box or, my Sony HDD recorder).

The user manual for this product says "Auto tracking, split and series reservation are enabled only when Recording's Start/End Time in the menu is set On Time."

Also, you do not get the RF lead for the aerial loop through, so if you're recording 2 channels, you cannot view anything via TV tuner.

It's very noisy as mentioned by other people.
In fact it is noisier than my Sky+ & Sony HDD recorder put together.
I would compare the noise level to that of a 4" toilet fan.

I bought the earlier model (PVR-9200T) about 18 months ago, and have been very pleased with it. There has been a software update which now allows you to record a complete series of programmes. I have regarded it as an excellent machine. But, in recent weeks, it seems to have had a nervous breakdown - freezing up on playback, only recording 45 mins of a 2 hour programme; and, when you attempt to add a third programme to the recording schedule (which you cannot do on a twin tuner machine), it says it will cancel the programme which conflicts with your new choice, and then fails to record it. I have emailed Humax technical support, and had no reply. It has all become very disappointing. I hope these problems don't occur with the newer models.
