Just Brilliant! November 9, 2008 chelynnah (Dorset UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We have been looking at Flat Screen LCD's for a few years now, but haven't found any that we felt worth updgrading our CRT to. We were holding out for a 32inch with 1080p. We have seen WHICH reviews over the last couple of years raving about the Panasonic Viera and making them Best Buys, so when this model came out we eagerly awaited their review while comparing quality in the shops as well. They loved it, we liked it, so we bought it. It arrived on Wednesday last week, set up Thursday and haven't looked back. It's absolutely brilliant! Everything that you could possibly want in a TV. I personally don't find the setup or remote awkward as has been said in other reviews, but then we have a Panasonic DVD/HDD/VCR so we are used to Panasonic menus. Perhaps for someone unfamiliar they are a bit tricky? We are thrilled with everything from the picture to the sound... We are SO glad we waited!
Very stylish TV with great picture, shame about remote November 4, 2008 M. Wilding (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The picture quality is excellent with both the integrated freeview and external sources. The integrated freeview now/next function and seven day guide are well designed and not at all offensive on the eyes as some can be. This is a very stylish TV. It's great to look at even when it's turned off. It has a very clean design. The same however can not be said for the remote. The remote is rather bulky and ugly with over sized buttons. (Sony and Samsung remotes are much more elegant). Having said that it was nice that the remote was not cluttered with too many buttons for seldom used features. Instead these are accessed via the excellent on-screen menus. I did find the remote to be a little sluggish and unresponsive. There are various TV settings which I found useful such as the ability to turn overscanning so you don't loose any of the picture (most useful for a true 1080p pixel perfect image). It is good to be able to hide unused input sources from the AV remote button. The setting to choose whether the TV defaults to the integrated tuner or external AV source on power on is useful to those who use a separate PVR and don't require the internal freeview tuner.
Superb Buy October 30, 2008 Mr. Dimitrios Gavrilakis (Enfield, U.K.) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have had this Panasonic Viera TX tv for more than two months now. I have to say that overall, I am extremelly happy with it. It is capable of full 1080p high definition resolutions (not many 32 inch tvs can do this), and is a well-engineered piece of kit. PICTURE: I have tested the 1080p mode by using my XBOX 360 and my sony blue-ray player. As can be expected, the pictures are crisp and the tv performs very well. I do not have an HD TV subscription, so cannot comment on how it performs to digital TV high-def content. Normal DVDs look stunning, and standard definition SKY transmission is more than decent (some other high-def TVs usually suffer in this area). Colours are vivid and there is very little pixelisation, even if you are close up or if there is fast movement on screen. There is virtualy no flicker and you get stunning viewing - very much like being in the movies! Panasonic have introduced very good up-scaling technology, so even standard definition signals upscale well on the screen. The only gripe I have with this model, is that sometimes, the black scenes are not good enough. Shadows and black backgrounds appear somewhat below par. This however is a generic vice of all LCD TVs, so is not an issue specific to this model. SOUND: The sound is surprisingly good. It is clear and distinct on the trebles, and beefy and distortion-free on the bass. FEATURES/CONNECTIONS: Panasonic have been very generous with an ample selection of inputs and connection ports offered with the LZD-85. Plenty of HDMI (three) ports, plus all the other standard connections are available. You can hook up your hi-fi, even using digital optical cable, and you can slot in your SD memory card directly into the side of the TV to view your digital photos. Nice touch! ERGONOMICS/BUILD: The TV looks sleek and beautiful. It will definately enhance your living room. It is pretty thin and not very heavy. The menus are well designed and the machine is easy to install and set up. The only minor concern I can say here, is that the remote has to be aimed pretty much bang on the sensor to operate it. Surely they could have designed this abit better. OVERALL: this is an excellent buy. A bit expensive, but it oozes quality. A couple of minor practical gripes, but overall it is worth every penny.
Absolutely superb TV October 18, 2008 Mr. N. Harvey (UK) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Have just taken delivery of the TX32LZD85. Ordered through Amazon at 16:00 one day delivered at 09:25 the day after. Amazing! The TV more then lives up to it's reputation in that the picture quality, even on non-HD Freeview and Sky is absolutely faultless. Initial set up, as other have stated, is dead easy (30 mins to get everything connected and for the TV to auto-tune). Setting individual parameters is also very easy. Having no previous experience of digital/HD TVs other than seeing them in retailers and being a bit dubious about the quality that such demo models display, we were a little bit wary of going digital. Our previous TV - an old analog Samsung, had a great picture but the Panansonic knocks spots off it. The depth of colour, the picture quality and the sound are all in a new dimension. Basically, if you were having any doubts about buying the Panasonic, don't have - just buy!
Stunning TV October 6, 2008 D. Anderson (Edinburgh) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Replaced my Toshiba 32WLT66 with this a week ago. Prior to buying it I read several reviews, and subscribed to "Which" - Panasonics are generally highly rated there. Set up was easy, and the difference is impressive. Both picture and especially sound are, as I'd hoped, much better. 1080P is definitely better than 1080i, and I can see and hear the difference. But I'm only comparing two models, and the Toshiba 32WLT66 is obsolete, and the equivalent only costs 364, so not really apples for apples. However, the improvement is marked, and particularly noticeable for Ps3 games. Details previously unseen and unheard come to life. Only reason I didn't give this a 5 - There are 3 HDMI ports. One at the side, and two facing directly out of the back. The issue is that I hang the TV on a wall. Heavy duty HDMI cables cannot be fitted to the ports on the back of the TV, because there isn't enough room for the cable to bend, and my bracket only leaves 3/4". The Toshiba's ports pointed down - no issue with a wall getting in the way. So, buyers be aware, if you're connecting more than one HDMI device, and mounting the TV on a wall, either make sure your TV is set well out from the wall (I think you'd need a 2-3" gap) or buy more flexible HDMI cables. My cables are sorted, and I'm delighted with the TV - it's excellent.
