Can I use a Sony Bravia HD Ready Television? July 8, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Again, I know this is meant for reviews but I was also going to order a Sony Bravia television and where I live we do not have cable laid on or satellite. Can anybody tell me if I can use an HD Ready Television?
SORRY BUT I HAVE A QUESTION ON BRAVIA June 27, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Hi
Firstly, I know this is a place to put your reviews, and hopefully I will be doing that shortly!
But I thought that as all of you are obviously very satisfied with your Sonys and also the research I have done on the Sony HD Ready LCD tv it looks perfect for my needs.
I was on the verge of buying this tv when it was pointed out to me that if you do not have cable or satellite then you cannot use this tv or that the quality of the picture is far below what it should be.
From the reviews I have read, everyone seems satisfied - does this mean that you all have cable/satellite?
Many thanks for your help

Bought the tv to replace my old 14inch crt in the bedroom and the Sony is amazing, picture/sound is a 10/10. I'm using a portable arial and booster and the freeview picture is spot on and rivals the picture in my lounge.
Highly recommended, don't spend time buying cheaper no-brand tvs, the difference is very noticable.
Good, but... May 14, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
It's a very good product, with excellent connectivity. Although I'm slightly disappointed with the EPG & freeview picture. It seems fuzzy to me. I can understand why the freeview picture will vary in quality (bit rates and all that!) - but I don't see why the EPG can't run at the native resolution (the configuration menus are all crystal clear). It looks like the EPG is upscaled along with the freeview picture itself.
But perhaps that's just the nature of LCD! I guess I've been spoilt with my 4 year old Panasonic plasma (that runs at a lower SD resolution).
One big plus point is that the EPG & teletext seem to load VERY fast and are cached in memory (much better than the set boxes / pvrs that I've used).
A Top Sony Telly April 5, 2008 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I bought this TV recently for use in our bedroom and have been utterly delighted with it. The size is ideal for my room, though in a room much larger (mine's about 17' by 15') you may want a slightly larger screen. Setup was really simple & even though we have fairly weak digital TV signal in our area, the Sony has locked on really well & we get consistently great pictures.
Picture quality is right up there with the best TVs I've seen, and the the sound is just great too. Our old CRT screen had speakers fitted at the sides, pointing left & right - this SONY has them just below the main screen which means the sound is projected towards you & you don't need to have it lound to hear clearly. Overall sound quality is fine for a bedroom TV - everything from News to music shows sound great.
I was a little concerned about the silver colour, but it's really quite discreet - to my eyes at least!
Buy with confidence - this is a great product.
