I recently purchased these speakers after having read the plethora of positive reviews on the Internet. Excitement soon faded away after it actually came to setting up the speakers. The interchangeable covers are a nice idea, but the design is clearly flawed. I was able to remove two of the covers (from the subwoofer unit and speaker), but I could not remove the cover from the other speaker - it was as if it was glued on. I followed the instructions properly, but was unable to remove the cover no matter how hard I tried.
So I was left with a white subwoofer, 1 white speaker and one black. I plugged the unit in, eager to hear how it sounds. Simply put, the built-in speakers in my Apple iMac Intel (2006) sound *better* than the JBL Spot speakers. I was actually left quite puzzled. The subwoofer is quite large, yet it struggled to put out the kind of power I expected. I played several songs from a variety of genres, to find they all sounded dull through the JBL Spot speakers.
It's really a shame. JBL have got the appearance of these speakers "spot" on, quite literally. But the usability falls short. The bass knob on the back of the subwoofer is hard to adjust, because it is too close to the AC input socket (Who thought of that?). And the fact I could not remove one of the covers meant that I could not have all the units in white as I wanted.
In my opinion, it's best to spend a bit more money on something that can out put power.

I have used JBL Creatures for some years. They still sound great, however, as I needed to install an additional shelf I decided to take advantage of the lower Height of the Spot Sub Woofer.
The 'Spot Speakers' were easy to install and I find the sound quality marginally preferable to the 'Creatures'.

So far, very happy with my JBL Spot speaker set-up.
They were bought to complement my new iMac so, aesthetically, they do the job perfectly. Easy as anything to set-up....5 mins max, including time to hide excess cabling. They do need their own mains power, but that's no problem - plug them into your PC/Mac headphone socket and you're away.
The JBLs are probably no substitute for a dedicated hi-fi for your lounge, but for playing iTunes, DVDs etc, they're perfect. Lovely rich sound, decent bass and no distortion on higher volumes. Worth a go!

I received my JBL today and within minutes had it plugged in and playing. Wow... the sound quality is great not to mention the brilliant subwoofer, very good overall package.
The little speakers are so cute and on one of the speaker you have volume buttons to control the output of the music.
I recently had the Harmon Kardon Soundstick 2 which was also a great piece, the JBL is equally as good if not better for its looks.
I didn't know this at the start, but the covers on the subwoofer and two speakers are changable, it comes with black covers and white covers as standard. The black covers are standard and already on, but simply take it off and place the white ones on if desired plus JBL have other covers available like pink, brown, red, etc... visit their website for more info.
If you are thinking about buying some speakers and subwoofer then look no further, at this low price you can't go wrong when you consider the Harmon Kardon Soundstick 2 is almost twice as much!!!
P.S. All the cables are very long (about 2-3 meters) so plenty of line to play with. Definately a plus point.
