Value for money September 29, 2008 Sweetfoot (u.k.) These speakers are a very clever design and while the volume level is not great at this price they are a bargain.
Comparison of 3 portable speakers September 17, 2008 H. Clargo (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
iStuff Companion Speakers Good points: very, very small & light & have a neat little case if you like that kind of thing. No batteries or power is needed, which makes them very portable. Bad points: poor quality sound and distortion at high volumes. The maximum volume is just enough to be heard in one room, but not if the room is full of people. Also the headphone jack lead is very short. Portable Folding Speakers for Ipods & mp3 players - white = the same as you find on lots of websites. Good points: maximum volume better than iStuff. Not too big. Bad points: heavier than the others because of need for batteries. This is its greatest limitation, I think. Batteries only last about 6 - 8 hours and because you need to turn the speakers off when not using them, you can't use them with a timed programme (e.g. wake up to music or go to sleep with music). They come with a USB power adapter, but they don't get much louder than my computer's built-in speakers, so what's the point if I need to connect to my computer anyway? Loud enough for one room, but not if the room is full of people. They also distort at high volumes. The headphone jack lead is very short. Sony SRS-P7 Stereo Speaker System for Walkman - Silver Good points: very light and not too big, although bigger than iStuff. Tough - I must have dropped mine hard at least 20 times before one little wire came loose. Has long headphone jack lead. No need for batteries or power, which makes them easily portable. I used them as my only speakers for 4 years, would recommend them & will get them again if I kill them. Bad points: Sound also distorts at high volumes, but maximum volume is louder than the other two.
not so loud but good September 15, 2008 Michael P. Leach (UK) AS is stated in the other reviews, because they are not powered the volume depends on the player. with my Nokia E50 max volume is required to make them listenable, not a complaint just a fact, nicely designed & made for the price they are difficult to fault.
rubbish September 4, 2008 Aw Hotham (uk) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
these speakers are rubbish the sound quality is so bad and u can barley hear them even if ur on ur own in a room!! if u want to have some decent speakers i recon u need to spend around 20 for any decent sound quality!
not bad at all May 17, 2008 Bogdan Tiganov (London, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As long as you understand that these speakers are not likely to be used in the O2 anytime soon and that what you use them for is to magnify your sound when travelling then you're on to a good thing. Cheap as chips (and, with inflation, chips are probably more expensive) these companion speakers look nice and modern, are very lightweight and can be carried around in your pocket. I've used them on train journeys and they're perfect for a listen with mates to show them your latest iPod finds!
