This is an amazing product. It would be pretty good value for just a surge protected 8 way extension! I have an AV setup with 5 devices that were all previously sitting in standby all the time. Guilt over my carbon footprint led me to search for a device like this. Out of the small number of similar devices on the market, the Intellipanel seems to stand out.
I've setup my Logitech Harmony One universal remote to send out a command to the IR sensor at the same time as turning on my other equipment. The sensor can learn any command from any IR remote. You just hear a small click as the Intellipanel fires up the mains. The rest of the kit comes on a fraction of a second later, almost as it had been in 'evil' standby all along.
When you turn your TV off, it detects a drop in power consumption and, 30 seconds later, turns the mains off. If you have a Sky+ box or similar device, you can plug it into a dedicated socket that remains permanently on. Brilliant!

Excellent piece of kit
Before it arrived i was wondering how it would work if you put your tv into 'sleep' mode ... ie it turns itself off after 30, 60 90 mins etc
It has its own infa red receiver which 'sees' when u press the tv power button on the remote ... so I was thinking it might not work if the sleep function turns off the tv
well im happy to report that it does .... it also monitors the power being drawn from the tv mains socket and when that reduces it turns everything else off too ... and i have to say it works absolutely brillianty
This feature does however have a slightly unwanted side effect for Plasma TV's
LCD TV's should be unaffected (although I have not tested this), as the power drawn by an LCD TV is always constant. Plasma TV's however, draw less power the darker the picture, and more power the brighter the picture.
So what happened in my case was (I own a 42" panasonic plasma), I paused an xbox game while i made some lunch .... xbox went into screensaver mode ... the picture goes dark, draws less power, and the intellipanel seemed to think i had turned the tv off .... and so turned everything else off ... including my mid-game xbox ... :o(
This is easy to get around though .... I have turned off screen savers on all my equipment, and havent had the problem since
This may concern people worried about 'burn in' and it did me too ... but any images burned into my screen all seem to be temporary and go after a short time of watching a normal moving picture again .... not sure of the long term impact this will have on my tv .... but heh hoh
My theory can be proved in lots of ways ... for example if you are watching sky, and turn off the sky box, the screen goes black ... if you leave the tv on now blank sky signal, 30 seconds later the intellipanel will turn everything off
Amazing bit of kit ... but you might want to check how much power your kit actually uses in standby, before you buy one .... as the brick itself uses 0.5 watt and my tv only uses 0.7 .... but it comes into its own when you have a ps3, xbox, 5.1 cinema, dvd, wii etc all on standby all the time
It also has an 'always on' mains socket for things like sky+ which need to be always on for recording etc

I bought this item as i leave my tv on stand by all the time, plus all the appliances i have with it. So i plugged it in and set it up very easy. I now have my tv,cable,telephone,DVD player,amp and CD player plugged into it. Turn my tv off and it all goes off, which is great. Only downside is my amp is plugged into it, so i have to turn tv on to play music. Does not bother me though as i play music very rarely through this. Overall very happy and if i needed another i would by one.

This product is a wee gem, not only can you plug 8 appliances into it but it also has anti-surge built in as well. Once programmed(which is simple)to detect your TV, put it on standby and within 30secs the intellipanel switches power off to everything except your PVR(BT Vision/Sky+ etc). The only thing stopping me giving it 5 stars is because the first one I got developed a fault after a couple of days, switching itself on and off all the time. The replacement has been trouble free. Great item!!

I bought this product thinking I could save a bit of money on my energy bills and feel a little more green. I have just removed it from use and it is now destined for the recycling bin!
The box says it switches everything off once the TV is put on standby. What it doesn't say is that it also randomly decides to go into sleep mode as and when it pleases. My whole family seem completely fed up with it and it certainly isn't worth the grief and frustration!
