Founds this Esata drive to be in good order. I've been using the esata connection and rather then USB and found it to be pretty quick (did some freeware benchmarking and was very good against USB2). Unlike the other eSata drive I had before (from a different vendor) the Feecom unit is hot swappable and didn't need to be connnected at boot up. (Most other esata seem to have problems with this), overall 10/10.

I first bought this device in January 2007. Just over a month later it failed while in use and from then on both Windows XP and Mac OS X reported the device was being disabled because it was drawing too much power. I returned it to Freecom (losing the data I had on it) and received a brand new box in return. This too has now failed, again about a month later, though this time it was just not recognised about 1 in 5 times when plugged into a computer. Rather than go to the expense of paying to send this one back to Freecom and losing the data once more, I took it apart and removed the 500G Samsung SATA disk to put in an ICY Box external enclosure. So far no problems with that one.
Even removing the hard disk was difficult due to the use of non-standard "security" screws in the case. Overall a dreadful experience which is a shame as I've been very happy with my Freecom FSG-3 server.
