Only had my Hard Drive a couple of weeks and so far so good. It's a great design and looks great on my desk. Only problem I don't think you can turn it off and the blue light on the front is very bright and as I have my desk located in my room it like a night light. Dose any one no if I would lose my data if I was to turn it off when not in use?

This is my first desktop hard drive and I have been very pleased with it so far. Quick and very easy to set up on my imac running 10.3.9. Transfer rate using hi-speed USB is as good as expected and really like the on/off switch at the back. Looks neat and I haven't found the noise level to be any greater than the mac itself. No problems so far and I hope it stays that way!

I use this drive on an Apple Mac via the Firewire 800 port. I have no problems transferring large video files on and off it.
For example, I've just transferred 390GB of files onto mine, some of which are 30-40GB in size.
The machine is a good, solid, well made device which can take the occasional accidental kick.

Unlike the first reviewer, I have found this external hard drive to be fine. Admittedly, I am not storing 2GB files, but for everyday documents, music and voice files and millions of photos, it is great. Very quiet and fast at transfer and small enough to unplug and use with other PC's/Macs to transfer data (if no cable). Only thing I don't like is the brightness of the blue light. Our study is also our spare bedroom and when we have people staying, we have to mask the light so it doesn't create a luminous shadow around the room!

I tried to use it as a scratch disk for capturing video footage and it did not work.. I just tried to transfer files across to use it solely for storage and it failed to save a large file (around 2GB).
Waste of time. I now have to go and get a replacement and start backing up my data all over again.
