Product Description With the External 7 port USB 2.0 HUB you can quickly and easily connect USB devices, such as a webcam or an Internet phone, to your PC or notebook. The ideal solution when all fixed USB connections are occupied. Since the product is hot swappable, each USB device can be easily connected or removed whilst the computer is switched on. After you have connected a USB device you can instantly take advantage of speeds of up to 480 Mbps, thanks to the USB 2.0 technology. Furthermore, the HUB is fitted with an overload and short-circuit protection for each port. In the event of an overload the HUB detects it and the relevant port is switched off.

dont go for the cheap option January 19, 2008 S. Darlington Don't waste your money on this cheap option, i returned mine after i found it wouldn't work with half of my devices, didnt detect as high speed, and the flashing lights are oh soo annoying, especially at night. Spend a bit more and get one that actually works, i went for the D-Link 7, so far i have had no problems with that.
Beware lights January 3, 2008 John Meyer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The one I got wouldn't install properly on Windows XP and I got only intermittent connection to my USB devices for a short while and then got no connection. Maybe this problem can be resolved, Sweex are a good brand after all, but it has an issue that can't. The thing is like an Xmas tree, covered in decorations. Seven coloured LEDs one for each USB and a ghastly central flashing colour changing LED. It's most offputting. It doesn't belong on an office desk without a black sticker over the top of it.
Compatibility problem with macbook pro July 5, 2007 J. Stockman (London, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Got the same hub from ebay, and it does not work with the macbook pro 2.2 C2D, with and without the power adaptor plugged in. Tested it with a G5 iMac and worked fine. very strange.
Great USB Hub May 8, 2007 C. J. Chalder 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I seem to be getting more & more USB devices nowadays so found myself having to plug & unplug far too often. Found it to be great for the price & does the job without any problems. Couple of points for the last reviewer: Disconnecting the power supply will mean that any device that needs power via USB wont work Many PC's continue supply power through USB ports when they are switched off so LED's & glowing mice will still still be 'on'
Nice to look at, but that's it... March 17, 2007 Mr. A. P. Mcphail (Scotland) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this because I thought it would look "cool". It does, but when you switch off your PC, the LEDs stay on, therefore you have to switch off at the mains. Having done this, I suspect now that this method is affecting the hub's performance. Certain items no longer work through the hub, but are fine when plugged directly into the PC. Sorry, but it's a waste of money - go practical instead.
