Excellent but with one niggle August 26, 2008 M. Newman (Essex UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I purchased this camera for the extra manual features it boasts as I like to be a little creative on occasion with my photography. I've only owned the Fuji f50 for a short time and many respects I'm very impressed with it. It does however appear to have one frustrating flaw in my opinion. This is with scenic views that have a high degree of light contrast. (Ie: Lakes with a lot of cloudy sky reflection.) The pictures tend to come out really dark and I have been unable as yet to find any settings that can compensate for this effect. I took pictures of similar scenes with both this camera and my Samsung Digimax i6 and though the focus was better with the Fuji f50 the Samsung had little problem with the light contrast. Like another reviewer I found the colour so much better after reading the handbook and switching the colour to the 'Chrome' setting for scenic shots. The 'Standard' setting is fine for most other photography. The focus is excellent even when at full optical zoom and is good right to the edge of the picture. Another feature that is very good is the camera's ability to take decent clear pictures indoors without a flash, due to the range of ISO settings combined with the shake reduction feature. Though the one Macro setting doesn't allow me to get as close to a subject as my Samsung (25mm), it still does a superb job at 70mm from the subject with crisp results. I haven't bothered with the 12 megapixel setting as I haven't found it necassary. Six is fine. I really like this camera but on a recent holiday to North Wales I found myself slipping my Samsung in my pocket as well to capture those high contrast lake shots.

It looks good I did not buy yet. I've got one question, what languages have this camera. Thx
Super Camera! May 23, 2008 M. Bridger (UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Toss up between this & the Canon Ixus 75. Decided to go for this as I wanted a bit more than point & click. I used to have a Canon Powershot A95 & this completely walks all over it. The colours are miles better. Heartily recommended to anyone who wants a lot in a small package.
Simply stunning pocket camera May 21, 2008 D. Jones (Surrey) 27 out of 28 found this review helpful
I am a professional photographer and shoot all day with a Canon 1D, 5D and 40D. I purchased this for my wife as a 'take anywhere' camera and have to say that it is absolutely brilliant. Focusing is fast and accurate (even in low light), the large screen is nice and bright, and face detection is superb. The only downside is the interface which is a bit clunky and dated but you get used to it. But at the end of the day the ONLY thing that matters with any camera is picture quality and for this the little fujifilm is top of its class. Even better than the Canon IXUS range?? Oh yes, you won't be dissapointed.
Excellent Value for Money January 28, 2008 Mrs. Emma McInerney (Manchester, UK) 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
I have had a FujiFilm F610 for the last few years and have been happy with it but it is starting to look a bit dated and wanted a new one for Christmas. Excellent price for the F50 on Amazon! I have used it a lot since christmas and am really impressed with the quality of the pictures, especially in low light. Much easier to navigate around all the functionality than I found on my previous Fuji camera, which makes it even better for a relative novice like myself. Would recommend to anyone.
