I brought this CD player for my new car as I was worried about how long I would have an iPod, so didn't want to buy a head unit that only played them. However, I still wanted the direct iPod control that comes with iPod specific head units.
This Pioneer was the perfect solution as with the rear aux I'm able to play any MP3 player. Additionally, the unit has a CD player, something lacking from some iPod specific head units, which is great if you haven't got round to uploading new CD's etc. As for the iPod control, its menus are exactly like that on the iPod itself and it's extremely easy to use. Furthermore, this unit has a great radio that too is simple to use.
Although the Pioneer may not have as good a display as some iPod dedicated head units, it does have moving backgrounds with lots to choose from and the display can be tailored to how you want them to appear.
The unit has a full range or options and controls for you to play with to get the best sound from it, plus it has three pre-outs if you want to upgrade your sound system altogether.
The unit doesn't come with an iPod cable, just a standard USB cable, but any USB one can be used (I use the one that came with the iPod itself), also I had to purcahse an aerial adaptor to fit my focus, and an aux cable had to be purchased additionally, but these only cost about 10 in total.
Overall, I would say that this is a great all round head unit and for the price cannot be beaten.
