Product Description All the features of the iPod nano now come in an even more compact form ? with video functions to boot!Apple proudly presents the new and improved version of its nano player: the iPod nano, witha bold new designand a larger, brighter colour screen ?but that?s not all!The iPod nano offers a video function for viewing your favourite films in exceptional quality thanks to its unprecedented pixel count (204 dpi instead of 163 dpi for earlier Apple models). And the iPod nano continues to push the envelope for multimedia entertainment, with the ability to play video Podcasts!Even the interface has been modified to make it even more user-friendly and intuitive. The Cover Flow function, for example, displays the album cover of all the music titles stored in the player?s memory, so you can flip through your music library and find your favourite tracks quickly and easily. You?lleven be able to download games onto your iPod nano to serve as a distraction during those long commutes. It has a range of basic functional features, including a calendar, international clock and a stopwatch, too!But what is more astounding than all these features is the fact that the iPod nano is even more compact than its predecessors! But have no fear - its anodized aluminium and stainless steel body reflects the same stylish design that Apple iPods are known for, and the sound quality is still as amazing as ever! Let yourself go, with the iPod nano!

Apple Just keep improving it. Even when you thought there was no room. September 3, 2008 When I first saw this product up close I thought it would be too small. And it is small. Incredibly small. But when you turn it on you realise that everything still works brilliantly. The screen is still bright but not garish. I can easily watch a movie in clear quality without blurryness, pixelation or even bad light contrasts. I don't know how apple do it but they manage to squeeze such a fantastic product into dimensions that can comfortably fit into my top shirt pocket. The wheel is easy to use and doesn't go too fast or too slow when you try and scroll. The scroll even has a great handling ability and unlike previous nanos, I can easily scroll and then stop exactly on the thing I was planning to stop on. The only fault I can find (and this is trying hard) is that the maximum memory is 8gb so I can't fit all the songs on my itunes so I have to go back and delete some awful album extras whenever i want to put a new single or album on. But this doesn't take long and should be done anyway. So in conclusion I think that.......the ipod touch is better. I beats the nano by a little in everything good about it. Plus it's touch screen and has a bigger screen so better for movies (which I use it for). But if you aren't a gaget person and just want to listen to music and maybe the odd movie or you don't want to spend as much, buy a New Nano. Unoless you want lots of memory in which case buy a classic. I guess what I'm really trying to say is; buy an ipod!
Awesome Piece of Kit August 22, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have long been an Apple fan (typing this on my Mac Mini and have no less than three iPods sitting on my desk) but this is something else.
Whilst most iPod models only nudge forward incrementally throughout their lifespans the move to a 3rd generation Nano has been a massive leap forward in terms of feaures, interface and pocektability.
First of all lets talk about the physical features. The Nano is roughly credit card sized and can fit into your wallet as it is only 6.5mm thick. The touch wheel is perhaps a bit too sensitive compared to previous iPods but you get used to it. The matt black front is really nice and tactile whilst the back is the usual shiny chromed finish that will be scratched wihtin minutes of opening the box.
The 3rd gen Nano is wider than previous version to accommodate the wider screen but don't let that put you off, it looks really nice and can be held in the palm of one hand easily.
The interface is really nice, the coverflow feature is my preferred way to flick through my music and as a previous reveiwer said, it takes a second for the album art to appear when browsing at high speed but hopefully a future software update will fix this.
There is a nice little search feature tucked away in there and the usual glut of games, alarms, contacts etc as well as a function to store and display photos.
For me the killer feature is the video playback, When the 2nd gen came out I thought, where's the video as I am sure many people did. For that reason alone I didn't go near it but the video on the 3rd gen is really good. Due to the dense pixels on the screen a well converted DVD looks the biz and plays smoothly without colour aberrations, jaggies or any flicker. Really good stuff and not something to be written of as a gimmick. Throw on a couple of movies and you have a good way to spend when on a long journey. I have watched a few full length movies and have not had any eye strain, a testament to the clarity of the small screen.
In conclusion I really can't rate this highly enough. It has replaced my shuffle as a permanent resident in my pocket. It goes with me everywhere and I use it everyday. Yeah, the packaged headphones aren't the best but when were they ever with an IPod. Stick in a pair of Sennheiser or something and your sorted.
This is a deeply impressive incarnation of a superbly designed and wonderfully evolved device. In short it has everything I could wish for in such a compact size. Beautiful, beautiful piece of electronic genius.
Awesome ipod nano August 17, 2008 This ipod is the best i have owned. once again it only gets 4 stars! ....................... want to know why?? because of the poor quality earphones you get with them. spend over 120 for it and the earphones are awful. mine went straight in the bin, and i splashed out for the bose in-earphones. make such a difference. other than that the mp3 player is top notch!!!! well recomended
A gem August 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My previous portable player was an Aiwa walkman, bought cheaply a decade ago in Singapore which chewed through batteries relentlessly and tended to jump on train journeys. Early reports of poor sound quality prejudiced me against iPods, but I was persuaded to give the nano a trial after the Aiwa gave up the ghost. What a revelation! Brilliant sound, great flexibility and enormous convenience: within two weeks I had downloaded the equivalent of about 100 albums (and have at last run out of memory - but I have the equivalent of 5.2 days of music).
Gripes? Not many. The click mechanism needs to be used carefully to avoid overrunning the item you want on the menu. You need a good memory to track down some items: artists and composers are initially listed alphabetically by first names (can be a problem). The use of the 'song' as the measure is rather irritating for classical music enthusiasts: if you want to buy something over c. 6 minutes in length on iTunes, you usually have to buy the entire album: annoying if you want only one work on the album. I had some initial problems organsing transfers from my CDs, but the absence of problems later suggests the fault was mine. I used the helpline once during that time, and received some useful advice from Apple. And as many reviewers have commented, the headphones provided are not up to much - the Sennheisers recommended by many are excellent (and do not disturb others when used).
In short, a gem.
sleek, cool, brilliant August 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this item about three months ago, and now find it indispensable. I use it everyday and have no problems with battery life, (I charge it approx once a week). I find it Very simple to use and to download media onto, and I'm a IT idiot. Very sleek, Very cool and Very brilliant.
