Excellent December 18, 2008 Mr. P. Wrycraft (Leicestershire UK) Apple MacBook Black 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo/2GB/250/SD/AP/BTOf course there will always be arguments about the various merits of different operating systems furthering the windows v MAC environment merits, but here I will give my thoughts. After years of working in the Windows environment, in 2006 I decided to buy an iMAC. After the birth of my first grand daughter, obviously I took hundreds of digital photos. With the introduction of Aperture v1, I managed to find a system of keeping my photos in a library. The down side was the requirements of the machine to avoid the beach ball. With the introduction of Aperture v2 and my purchase of an aluminium iMAC with 3GIGs of memory, these requirements were vastly improved. I now come to the point of this review. My black 2.4gig Macbook with 2gigs of memory flies. I can't see the difference between the iMAC and this Macbook. Within 5 minutes of taking it out of the box, I was online and five minutes later was happily printing wirelessly to my two shared printers 3 rooms away, without installing any drivers whatsoever. I question whether this process would be as painless with a windows machine. Every time I use this machine, and MAC OSX, I'm blown away. As you may have heard many times "A MAC just works", I certainly concur. I would not hesitate in recommending this machine. Battery life is brilliant and after 2 hours of medium usage, the battery is showing 3 hours of charge left. I read about the various differences between matt & glossy screens, but to me they simply are not an issue. I work on photographs and would never contemplate viewing, or working on them in an environment that compromises my decision on the quality of images. In conclusion: If your budget is for a cheap laptop- do not consider a MAC If viruses are something you can live with (at the moment)- do not consider a MAC If you are happy to buy various different software, at extra price, so that you can actually do useful works with a machine out of the box- do not buy a MAC However, if you can justify the initial cost price of a MACbook (which, incidentally, with MAC OSX, comes with versatile, easy to use and useful software), save your pennies and buy this machine!! It ROCKS!!
Love my macbook! December 3, 2008 Mark Abrams (West England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Mmmmm yes I love my macbook! I used to use Windows pc's.... Never Again! Flawless performance, great operating system everything drag 'n' drop. Easy! Also I just love the time taken to turn the machine on and off! No more waiting till the sun comes up like windows!! 35 seconds ish. I wouldn't swap my black macbook for anything! Hey and don't forget, in the words of Jacko it doesn't matter if your black or white. You can upgrade the white one to same spec as the black one for a smidge cheaper aswell.

I have used Windows PCs since MS-DOS. I wanted a laptop but I didn't want Windows Vista, so I looked at Apple MacBooks. The high price niggled me. Laptops with comparable specs are cheaper than MacBooks. But I took the plunge and got a MacBook black. And I'm delighted with it. The build quality is exceptional. The screen in particular is stunning, crystal clear, easy on the eyes, beautiful colours. Loads of software come with the Mac. I'm very impressed with the features it has. It's light years ahead of Windows. Taking into account the whole package, its not more expensive than a PC laptop. But is it PC compatible? Yes! I have setup a network with my Windows XP PC, where I share printer and files. My external hard disk, mouse, pen drive etc all work with the MacBook. And if you really need Windows, for those applications you can't live without, you can install it using OS X's Boot Camp software. Beware that the Mac and PC worlds are different. You need to learn new ways of doing the same thing. The problem for us veteran PC users is weaning ourselves off Microsoft's way of doing things. I'm won over. I love my Macbook. When my desktop PC is due for replacement, I'm getting an iMac. Bye bye the world according to Microsoft. For Windows users thinking about taking the plunge, just do it, get an Apple. You'll love it
Amazing July 18, 2008 J. Burge (England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a good solid notebook. I bought it to take to classes with me, and it works. It is small enough, yet powerful enough to fit all of my needs. It looks beautiful and so does leopard (its operating system). I highly recommend this notebook.
Brilliant. July 8, 2008 A. Brown (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a high quality laptop, with a great operating system. Any students looking to buy a mac should definitely buy through Apple's own website or one of their official stores, as you can get a pretty good discount (works out at over 50 for the black MacBook).
