Product Description Optimised for use with the WPN311 RangeMaxTM Wireless Router, which dramatically boosts signal and eliminates dead spots, to provide superior wireless coverage and speed to your desktop via the USB port. 1000% more coverage than 802.11g: As a 21st-century consumer, your notebook computer is an integral part of your life. But does your home computing environment work for you? Even if you already have a wireless network, you've probably found "dead spots" in your home where your Internet connection fades in and out, or drops off completely. Now, say good-bye to those dead spots ... and say hello to the freedom to work (and play) absolutely anywhere in your home! With the RangeMax Wireless Router and USB Adapter, your whole house becomes a "hot spot." NETGEAR's exclusive RangeMax technology gives you the longest range of any wireless network on the market today - up to 10 times the wireless coverage of 802.11g. So you'll have a sizzling-fast, consistent connection in every room of your house ... and beyond. Range Matters: Put the NETGEAR RangeMax Wireless USB Adapter to work for you, and that's all you need - leave those range extenders, repeaters, and external antennas at the store. The RangeMax Wireless USB Adapter is optimized for use with the RangeMax Wireless Router which adjusts to the interference and physical barriers in your home, and delivers up to 500,000 square feet of coverage - 1000% more than 802.11g. And the RangeMax Wireless USB Adapter is 100% compatible with your existing 802.11b/g products - so you are free to connect at home, work, or public hotspots. Power Under the Hood: RangeMax is an advanced Smart MIMO (Multi-In, Multi-Out) technology that uses seven internal antennas in the wireless router. The RangeMax Wireless Router constantly surveys your home environment for barriers and interference and adjusts the signal to compensate for these performance inhibitors. For example, if you carry your laptop from room to room, the RangeM

absolute rubbish - 2 failed and now out of warranty December 12, 2008 K. Berry Overall rubbish. When its working its ok, but a poor range, despite being "rangemax". My newer laptop with built in wifi card is much better. I bought in aug 2006, and first one failed after a year, so got a free replacement. now that has failed as well, conviently just out of the 2 year warranty. absolute junk. don't buy it.
XP = YES, VISTA = NO December 4, 2008 Mr. G. H. Wright (Scotland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you have Windows XP then this USB adapter is brilliant, it worked brilliantly for me. I decided recently to take the plunge and upgrade to Vista Ultimate edition. I downloaded the relevant Vista driver from Netgears support site (both of them 2.0 and 2.3). The adapter does work in Vista until you attempt to download anything of over 50mb and then the PC locks up and you will likely need a reboot although sometimes a quick unplug of the adapter and re-inserting will do the job. So in Vista this works fine for just browsing but thats it. Solution? I bought an adaptor from LM Technologies, a 300mpbs one, and its performing brilliantly in Vista with a Netgear router that the WPN111 came free with. If you search google you'll see lots of gripes about it in Vista, so if you got vista steer clear.
1 star's too high! November 6, 2008 Rogthedodge (London) This is rubbish! It works intermittently, fails for no reason and then won't reconnect. Sometime it works for days on end, others it goes in 10 minutes. 30% of the time you can unplug / plug the cable in again, the other 70% of the time you have to restart the computer. There is no other way. The router's fine it's just the USB adapter. The phone support offers no help / doesn't acknowledge there's a flaw with this product. Avoid ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Just bought the Lm Technologies 802.11g Wireless G USB Network Adapter from Amazon for 9 ish which is far, far superior. It actually works! From the same position the Lm USB gets a perfect signal (the Netgear only got 2 bars), Windows loads the drivers and all in all it's 20 times better. When I think of all the hassle the Netgear caused me and the amount of time I spent trying to sort it, assuming it was the computer etc etc I really wonder whether I'll ever buy another netgear product. Do not buy the Netgear! There are many better cheaper alternatives
Completely Unreliable September 19, 2008 C. Wong (Ashford, Kent United Kingdom) Completely Unreliable. Work for 2hours at a time. Need rebooting my PC with Vista every 2 hours to get connected. uninstall and re-install 3 times and no luck. Returning to seller (which is in France!) requesting full refund. Don't buy it. I would give no star if there is such an option
Not Worth the money!!! July 13, 2008 M. black (leeds) Wouldn't bother wasting ya money with this thing tested it against a cheaper unbranded usb without suppied drivers and the Netgear one performed worst. and thats with a netgear rangemax router...lol
