I bought this little gadget for 20 quid off the marketplace - Bargain!!!
I have a RIO Carbon 5gb for my main mp3 player which is getting full - I buy a lot of cd's and dont get to listen to the album fully coz i put on the 5gb and i have it on shuffle - i never actually get to listen to the album properly and unfortunately as it gets older the battery runs down quicker.
So i was looking for a small player 1gb to put albums on when i 1st get them - then select the best songs to put onto the 5gb one. also to have handy in my bag in case the 5gb runs out of battery.
This samsung player is a bargain the price - it can store approx 800 songs as WMA files recorded on lowest bit rate.
it has an excellent equaliser - with very prominent bass and surround sound which can be individually adjusted but applied together.
the encoding function is great too - Basically you can stick this thing into anything - PC, mini disc player , cd player, TV, radio and it will record whatever is playing into an MP3 file.
very handy if like me you have an old Mini disc player and want to record some of your old fave songs into digital files!! you can record from anything that has a headphone socket.
The sound quality is excellent too - better than the Rio player i have. im constantly hearing little extra bits to songs and background elements that i had not heard before.
If you are looking for a value MP3 player with reasonably capcity or to use as a spare like i do than go no furthe rthan this.
Easy to use (ignore reviews below) runs on any media player - i only have windows ME and it works fine!!

and can record anything into MP3.
yes the ones on marketplace are 2nd hand or refurbished but company has 1 yr warranty, so why nor give it a go?

I have just got this as my first mp3 player and I have to say I am very pleased with it. I did have a few hours of horror where I thought i had managed to break it, as it all seemed to go wrong when I tried to connect it to the computer, but fortunately i have an electronically minded brother to rescue me. My advice is follow the instructions exactly by the letter as far as the computer bit goes, even though they aren't wonderfully helpful when things go wrong! Otherwise this is a nice player to have, you have to be a bit careful with the cover to the battery which is a little fragile, but it is the perfect size to slip into your pocket and comes with a good little cover to help protect it from gettin splashed or anything. The sound quality is very good and I like the screen where you can see what is playin and flick back and forth - something which you dont get with things like the ipod shuffle for example. On the whole I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it.

Researched over and over before I purchased this player through Amazon. I have little experience of MP3 players but when you check it out(in my opinion) this player has most everything that is required of an audio player. The description that I found for this player does not do it justice. Firstly I could not find mention or usefull illustration of how the USB connection was stored in the player. It is in fact a fold away design. No parts to mislay. The battery life is quoted to be 20 hours for one AAA battery. With that sort of play time I would not bother with a rechargeable battery. I understand that some rechargeable batteries suffer from a so called memory problem and unless they are charged just so, the charging becomes less effective and the playing time is reduced. Every thing else about the player is just as it states in the details, good sound and radio reception, easy to read display. One other thing that I was interested to know, as I had seen reports of failures on other well known players, was the construction of the battery cover. I am glad to report that it appears to be of a robust design and not in any danger of breaking. If you are a person who likes to know exactly what they are buying, then download the user manual from the Samsung web site. Its no problem, but load your printer as it will take 25 pages of A4 paper. There are no doubt other very good MP3 player available. But, I own this one and it ticks all the boxes for me.
