Product Description A musical Genius. Say youre listening to a song you really like and want to hear other tracks that go great with it. The Genius feature finds the songs in your music library that go great together and makes a Genius Playlist for you. Its like having your own highly intelligent, personal DJ. Rock and roll over. Tilt or turn iPod nano on its side, and youll listen, watch, and play in new ways. You can flip through your album art with Cover Flow. Or, vertically speaking, see more albums and artists on the screen at one time. Shake your groove thing. Sometimes, we could all use a little unpredictability. And now you can shake to shuffle your music. Just give iPod nano a shake and it shuffles to a different song in your music library. Youll always be surprised by what youll hear. Find your music faster. Its even easier to find the song you want to hear. Now you can view your album art in Cover Flow. Or just press and hold the Center button to browse by album or artist. When you find the right song, press the Center button to add it to your on-the-go playlist. Let the games begin. Now you can get in on games made especially for iPod nano and the accelerometer. They respond to the way you move, so theyre immersive, addictive, and a blast. iPod nano comes with Maze, which lets you work your way through vast mazes by tilting and moving. You can find even more games on the iTunes Store. Even your photos rock. Pull hundreds of photos from your pocket and share them wherever you go. Hold iPod nano upright and see your photos in portrait view. Turn it on its side to see them in landscape. Your photos look beautiful in their proper aspect ratio on the vibrant, 320-by-240-resolution display. Worlds biggest small screen. Watching movies, TV shows, and videos is big fun on iPod nano. And the high-resolution picture looks crisp and vivid on the 2-inch widescreen display. So you can always have a little video with you.

Amazing for music-on-the-go! January 4, 2009 Victoria Hill (UK) Someone bought me this as a Christmas present and I've been using it ever since. It's incredble. Small enough to fit anywhere, you can take it anywhere you want. I haven't even had to charge it back up yet. The battery just seems to keep going and going. It's very easy to use and get used to. Within an hour I'd picked up how to use it with ease. Technology isn't my strong-point and it easily confuses me, but that's not the case with an iPod Nano. The sound quality is great and isn't tinny like I would expect it to have been. It's also so easy to add/delete songs and works not only on iTunes, but Winamp too so you needn't worry if you haven't got iTunes installed. All the basics are there. You can shuffle songs, repeat them etc. It really is one of the best pieces of technology I've come across and it looks really nice too.
pretty but painful December 27, 2008 J. A. Child (Sussex, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this as a Christmas present for my 11 year old child. I'd give it 10/10 for good looks, colour and size but about 3/10 for user friendliness. I may not be a spotty teenaged computer geek, but I am computer literate and well used to managing music/synching my PDA and Creative Zen. I'm beginning to wonder why on earth I didn't get her a Zen- its just not as cool, I suppose. The supplied ear phones are pretty ropey compared with others you can get. What they don't tell you:- The instructions supplied are minimalist..you have to download an 80 page PDF manual from Apple, and those are not terribly clear. Allow at least half a day to get this going; this is about as un-user friendly as it gets. You have to download the iTunes programme in order to get the ipod to work: no drag and drop from your existing music library, as you can with other mobile devices; iTunes has to take over the lot, and this takes ages.... I don't particularly want iTunes being my default music programme, but there is apprently no choice. It feels like the big Apple has taken over my computer. You can't resister your new little friend without supplying your credit card details. (I refused). The iTunes store likewise stores your credit card details, and purchase is via a single click. So easy in fact, that it looks like nothing is happening, and you may easily end up buying the same song five times over-with no chance of a refund. I don't want my child being able to go straight to the store and buy anything whenever she wants to, with a single click, but this is apparently how it works. Nor do I want the iStore to store my credit card details, but apparently no choice there either. This is big brother stuff. Despite its pleasing appearance, I wouldn't buy this again. Go for Creative Zen! Not as pretty, but half the hassle.
Very Happy November 29, 2008 Patrick__W 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This nano has had some vast improvements from the first generation all those years back. The screen has enlarged, and is very good. The colours and clarity is exceptional for something this small. It is a lot thinner, less than 1cm, and has a nice curved shape. It has a new feature not before seen on the nano, let alone any ipod, and this is a shaking the ipod to change track. The genius software is very good and I find very useful and selects suitable matches for my music library. Also, new with this generation is the accelerometer built in. This allows you to turn the ipod on its side to watch video. The price is very good, but is still expensive for its capacity. However, this is made up for in superb free software that is very easy to use and master. Also, this is by far, the most accessory orrientated MP3/4 player. However saying this; some of the new generation ipods including this one don't work on old docking stations. You may want to be aware of this if you intend to use old accesories.
Green and sexy October 7, 2008 Mr. Alexander M. Denham 16 out of 17 found this review helpful
A good looking dinkey little product easy to use, except itunes is a bit fiddley when putting photos onto it. I got a very nice clear case free with a special deal iPod Nano Case - PG603 IceBox as to actually be able to see the nice colour without greesing and scratching it. There does seem to be a problem with it disconnecting when doing certain jobs such as putting photos on (every 5 or so pictures it will say diconnected and then carrys on) and when using my old charger for the mains (unable to charge at all). But this is most likey a faulty cable and it seems fine with putting audio on. Extras and in the box: genius is helpful for random but actually good playlists, accelormeter (however its spelt) is fun and cool especially for games. Colours are very nice, screen is very qood quallity headphones are comfortable but not special.
Load of rubbish October 3, 2008 Cathy Lintern (UK) 29 out of 46 found this review helpful
This is the first iPod I've bought. I'm returning it on Monday (NB. I didn't get it from Amazon). To start with it took about 3 hours to get it on iTunes. It kept saying it had detected iPod in recovery mode and had to be restored. Click restored, same problem. No mention that there was a more up-to-date version of i-Tunes 8.0.1.11 rather than version 8 which I'd downloaded last week. Downloaded that and it finally recognised the iPod enabling me to name it and sync with library. Back on my laptop at home, wanted to sync it with the music I held in that i-tunes library. It blew 2 out of 3 USB ports with power surges (they are USB 2.00, it needs 2.00) and the other one didn't even know it was there. The start-up guide supplied is very brief - "plug it in". The earphones are awful. They don't stay in your ears and leak sound like water from a rusty bucket. Oh and the 8GB is 7.3GB. If you get it working it's pretty dinky. Easy to move around the menus, light, just the right size..love the colour. I'm not a complete IT idiot but found the problems with getting this to work initially and not being able to get it working on my lappy really frustrating. I am very disappointed. _____________ An up-date on the above - the problem was a dodgy USB cable. That has been replaced and it works great. Annoyingly on Apple's support site there was no mention of the "Power Surge on USB port" If you get it - try a new USB cable.
