First Rate & Great Price! October 9, 2008 Mr. R. D. Morgan (Electric Ladyland) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Really Great LCD HD TV, especially for the money. The picture is absolutely first rate, really sharp and vibrant, plus it can display 1080p which is a bonus. The sound is really good as well, although I have played around with the 7 band equalizer to get the sound I wanted. It was a bit bassy when it came out of the box, but if you just reduce the lower end equalizers, you'll get a sound which is perfect for any application (Sky, Freeview, PS3, Wii, DVD, Blu-Ray etc) Set up is ridiculously easy, you'll be watching the in-built hd freeview channels within minutes. Really good stand also, the tv is very attractive to look at and not bulky at all - in fact its very sleek. I went up from a 26'' to a 37'' and the Philips doesn't look oversized or out of place. Seriously, this is a bargain tv which will serve anyone handsomely for the next 10 years. BUY BUY BUY!
PHILLIPS 37pfl5522 March 21, 2008 J. Jones (England) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
This set offers a lovely clean image free from blurring and digital artefacts, especially from DVD'S via HDMI (720p setting is best) and is a doddle to set up and use. I tweaked the screen using a THX test signal (contained on a lot of DVDS) to get the optimium settings for contrast etc - there are lots of settings to tweak the image although I have tried various combinations and found the best results were achieved through the above method). SD broadcasts definately benefit from a decent arial feed and freeview digital TV images are far better than those of analogue broadcasts, with a sharper, more vibrant picture (although not quite as good as DVD images in my experience). The pixel plus 2 HD is permanently on so I am unable to offer any suggestion as to whether it is a bonus or hinderance to the image displayed. The set is easily wall mounted as well as having a robust, removable stand and build quality is excellent. For anyone who has an ariel socket on the wall or who needs to connect an external device i would recommend upgrading the arial leads/scarts etc, using something like QED's ttv ariel lead, P21 scart, HDMI-P Lead - These kind of things make a substantial difference to the quality of the image, surprisingly so. This is an excellent TV, outstanding value and heartily recommended.
good all-rounder... February 1, 2008 A. V. Bourn (london) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
having lived with this 37" LCD tv for some months, I have nothing but praise for it. Its the first LCD TV I have owned, and i was not too sure just what to expect, but picture quality (after setting up) is first rate. picture geometry is always perfect, and image sharpness on freeview is 100%. My only downer is the sound quality... just not great at low volumes, but useable and par for the course as LCD TVs go. All in all, well up there with the Sonys and Panasonics top end gear.

Great TV - thou' takes some getting used to. I was going to get the 42" version but I'm glad I got this as it is massive. You need to view from about 10' back to get a good image, another reason why getting a massive TV is not too clever - you may need to sit in the street to get a good image. This Philips looks very modern, was easy to setup and get going. I'd recommend a component connection for games consoles (or HDMI) as the image is brilliant. Sound on this is great too. Well worth the price I paid.
Very Happy with TV January 9, 2008 Ms. Lara Milligan (Dorset , England) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
The only thing i haven't liked about the service was that it took 7 day's to get here even though it's on first class delivery. I read the review before and tend to agree yea there are TV's out's there with a slightly better picture but there's nothing in it really. The sound is fine. It looks very pretty. Overall for the money i think it's a brilliant buy !
