excellent mid-range LCD October 21, 2007

I cant praise this tv enough. The picture, sound and build quality is excellent for the price.
I compared it in-store with other brands of a similar price (samsumg, phillips, panasonic, etc) and i would rate this model as the best in this range. Primarily in terms of picture quality : colour depth; viewing angle; handling black; shadowing; pixelation - this tv outperforms the others.
I very nearly bought a samsumg based on the price and popularity on Amazon, but having compared them directly, i would rate the LG as better.
Also the samsung's shinny plastic surround looks very cheap and tacky to me.
I notice there's not much technical detail on this page so some useful info:
it has 2 HDMI and 2 scart ports.
it has adjustable aspect ratio for watching TV and DVD, so you can watch DVD in either original widescreen or you can stretch it to full screen, which i find really useful.
The in built freeview seems to work ok, i use sky so dont really use it, but it has about 30ish channels. These auto-set when you first turn on the tv.
The sound quality is pretty average, but ok for TV, so i use separate speakers for watching DVDs.
I paid 550 in sept 2007. I noticed the price fluctuates a lot on here, and is currently selling for 780!
Delivery was 5 and it arrived on the correct date, but there was no am/pm option.
Generally highly recommended for those who want a quality mid-range LCD, but don't want to pay the price for a sony bravia.
