bloody marvellous November 23, 2007 Gaz (England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had this T.V. for 6months now and I am so impressed...I bought it as a present for my PS3 everything about it is just wow, easy to connect, no need for hd-dvd player as my PS3 upscales ordinary dvd and is a blu-ray player, some people have complained its only 1080i but I have watched 1080p and to be honest I can not tell the difference, the difference between my old Sony CRT and PS2 however is HUGE, I'm saving up to by Sony RHT-G800 stand now, then thats me done untrill the PS4 and OLED come out....oh and about flicking through the inputs use the remote menu and pick one...its a lot quicker, you can also cancel the ones you dont use
5 Stars for TV -10 Stars for it breaking down....read below September 16, 2007 Mr. P. Taylor (UK) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this TV back in March 2007 5 months later i had to send it off for repair. Now this is bad....A SONY for gods sake I wouldnt of minded if I had spent the money on a rubbish cheap TV from tescos but this was a grand that I spent on a well known manufacturer. I have just got it back after it being away for repair for one month the cost of repair!?!?!?------- 748--------(covered by warranty but this is NOT the point...) Man they might aswell of given us a new tv I think the only thing they didnt replace was the plastic surround and the remote! It IS a good tv with regards to picture xbox etc etc, but seriously people think hard when looking at a SONY...man is anything made well these days.... I shall stop moaning now and go and sit in front of my ace(!) tv and wait for it to breakdown again...I just hope it lasts till I get to the end of Bioshock.... Peace
fantastic tv October 1, 2006 S. GANGADHARAN (norwich uk) 24 out of 27 found this review helpful
just had the tv delivered.it is absolutley fantastic. i upgraded from a 24" to the 40", so a bit of jump. ou can never really appreciate the difference till it sits on your tv stand. just finished seeing a dvd on it. the colours are sharp, vivid and bright.there was never a choice of brand other than a sony. it was only which model of sony's willi buy. the set up is simple. good connectivity with two scarts, hdmi input, and a pc in as well for home multimedia. the change between av's in cycle is a bit slow and can be a bit irritating as you flick through the cycle but small price to pay for such a great buy. highly recommend it.
Superb picture and great value September 14, 2006 Mr. G. Bridgeman-clarke (Rayleigh UK) 52 out of 54 found this review helpful
I have this model and whilst I see the earlier reviewer has the 32 inch model, I don't think you can compare the 32 to 40inch set. The 40 inch is obviously a different screen, different internal motors and larger pixel display. When in service it appears brighter then the 32 inch set. I bought the television and within 10 minutes it was up and running. The manual is so easy to follow and once you turn the set on it directs you through setting up and locates the best signals for the channels. It's so easy. This is the first High Definition TV I have had and at first its a bit distracting to see the pixels on the screen from normal non HD TV, but when you sit back away from the set at a decent distance, you get a better picture, more life like feel to the programmes with enhanced colour. I have now connected up my Sky+ box and DVD and feel I am getting real value for money even before I get onto my HD services. Watching TV is a new ball game and I really can't understand how I kept my old 26 inch TV for so long. In fact I believe that even if you only watch non HD TV you will still see the full benefits of this set. I am very happy with the set and if you buy one I am sure you will be too.
Slow Inputs Change! July 27, 2006 s83777 (UK) 13 out of 69 found this review helpful
If you have more than one AV input it can take upto 20 seconds to change between them. It cycles slowly through the inputs in one direction (e.g. DVD, Xbox, PC connection, Sky Box, etc.). This may not sound like alot, but it can get rather annoying if you flick back and forth. Other than that its good.
