HD explained June 3, 2007 S. R. Aitken 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
the previous reviewer is incorrect - HD specs: 720i = 1280*720 interlaced (ie 50 fields (half a full screen) per second) 720p = 1280*720 progressive (ie 50 full screens per second) 1080i = 1920*1080 interlaced (50 fields per second) 1080p = 1920*720 progressive (50 full screens per second) only a screen with the full 1920*1080 pixels can natively display either of the 1080 formats without downscaling
Mr James D How the hell did you come up with that? April 17, 2007 Mr. B. G. Sturgess (UK) 7 out of 13 found this review helpful
Ok just to put people in the picture (excuse the pun) 1080i is 1366x768 and 1080P or otherwise classed as True HD is 1920x1080 the screen resolutions are greatly different but If you want to be forward compatible look for the 1080P TV's as far as i am aware there aren't many broadcasts at this spec but blue ray dvd and hd dvd are at this impressive resolution rate. But if you have plans to hook your PC up as well I would definitely go for the 1080P Spec.
Abysmal Picture January 31, 2007 J. Clarke (Bucks, UK) 13 out of 46 found this review helpful
This isn't specific to the model in question (which is the one I happened to purchase)- all LCD TVs suffer in the same way. Unless you have Sky+, forget it. The picture from a SD feed will look no better than a grainy, pixellated internet mpeg. What's more worrying is the complete lack of tone, contrast and colour on these sets. Everything is presented in absolutes; black has no shades of grey, no subtlety. The same with blinding white. It genuinely seems that the current generation of these sets is still a work in progress- stick to a good quality widescreen CRT for a couple of years. Simply put, the latest batch of LCD TVs are a waste of money. Mine was returned within a week.
Great TV January 2, 2007 S. Mccreesh (Armagh) 12 out of 17 found this review helpful
Had this tv now for a week and cannot praise it highly enough. The picture quality is superb and the easy set up programme is fantastic. No reservations what so ever.
