Have had this TV for about 3 weeks now and I really cant fault it so far.
I recently bought the SAMSUNG HD DVD Cinema System and hooked up to this it sounds and looks awesome.
I have only changed a few of the settings and picture quality is fantastic. My sky programmes look great then again I will like to compare with the Digital Channels but dont have an external area to pick up the signal. Can anyone tell me if I can use any other means of accessing the Digital Channels?
Watched American Gangster HD DVD on my Kit and all I can say is fantastic.
BTW, all the guys that have used the settings from HDTEST review could you please tell me how to access the advanced mode to update my settings?
I have upgraded the firmware but am not able to access the advanced menu for picture settings.
All in All a fantastic TV.

I can't believe the "disappointed" review - bit harsh??..bit of an understatement there!!
This tv is superb. It looks excellent, and the sound is perfectly fine. Obviously most people who are going to spend 700 quid on a tele are likely to get a surround sound system anyway, but even if you don't, the volume goes plenty high enough and is far better than I have had on any other tele I've owned.
The picture is excellent - I changed the settings using those found on hdtvtest site - it's easy to change from the out-of-the-box settings, and the result is great.
I honestly cannot fault this tele - I personally think the rose black surround looks really good - not all that noticeable but just a bit different - and can't see how you would mention it as a critism! Oh well - some people are never happy!

I am being a bit harsh, but to be honest when I got my new TV I insisted on getting a Samsung as they have never let me down. I had a an older 37" in mind, but the sales guy convinced me to pay up and get the newer series 40"...
I was expecting a lot with this TV as one does from Samsung. It turned out to be all round a total let down for 2 reasons.
the sound is absolutely terrible!! only get this if 1 - you don't care too much about sound, or 2 - you have external speakers. There is no base, max volume is what most TVs would have at 50% volume, and unless you spend ages playing with the settings you get one of those really annoying situations where the background noise (with no base!) is really loud and the spoken noise is really quiet. Keep in mind these settings have to be changed from TV to DVD to sky etc...
The second major issue is the HDMI slot is totally flawed. I have an appleTV and only 1/5 tries (at the "searching for signal" stage) does the HDMI successfully find it when I select the corresponding input. I tried everything... I tried all 4 HDMI slots... I searched the web to find a solution... I even played with every setting on the appleTV thinking it might be a resolution issue. I even borrowed a friends appleTV thinking mine was flawed... Nothing worked. I got so fed up switching the TV off and on for this to work I eventually went back to component, which despite what a lot of people say is not as good as HDMI!
The look of the TV is very nice. I don't love the red tint in the tubing, but I am sure I will get used to it. To be honest, I wish I had got a cheaper TV with a working HDMI slots and good speakers. Instead I paid more than I wanted for basically speakerless TV with no HDMI inputs!! Stay away from this, save your money and go with an older Samsung model as I think they were the best the company ever made and by the looks of things the best they ever will make...

I have had a Samsung 26" TV for the last year and have just got this 40" monster, what a great TV it is. I have it hooked up to my sky box and PS3. When i first got my TV I had the PS3 set to 1080i and I thought it was a great picture, then tonight I suddenly thought about the settings in the PS3 on turned on 1080p. WOW what a difference that made, I really can't fault the picture quality of the Samsung. Of course the sound is not great but everyone knows that, but hooked up to a surround sound system it fine..

As a first time LCD buyer this site helped me decide which one to buy. So i thought i should post my review to help it. I brought it from amazon-a cool 100 pounds less than what currys and comet are offering on the same product. I had it delivered much before promised time of 13:00 next day. The product it self is in excellent condition when delivered.
Ok here is my feedback
1. The TV looks excellent without switching it on - i mean the asthetics and look and finish of the TV
2.Its slim but equal in weight to my current CRT TV. Ofcourse it did occupy less space comapred to my old tv.
3. The setup was very easy; the manual gave easy to understand install instructions.
4. The digital TV quality was amazing; on connecting to SKY i realized the same channels look good on DTV compared to SKY. Connecting to SKY was easy but routing TV sound through my old home theatre was a bit messy. It took some time.
5. The sound itself from the TV was pathetic for some one who is used to listening to high quality sound on ipod or a hifi.But if you have a home theatre or surround sound it is taken care of.
6. But what wins you is the amazing picture quality and the USB link. The default setting were absolute crap(why cant they set it to the best possible settings and deliver ?).I used the settings published on hdtv review and believe me i have seen enough LCD TV's it was amazing.
7. I watched Roary-the amazing car on Nick Junior with my son. It allows you to see where the animation colours has been wrongly done.
8. TO my luck there was Lord of rings that evening on channel-4; i watched it with surround sound. It was mindblowing. But it was better on DTV than on SKY.
9.The morning after i can see the dust on the screen; it does attract a lot of dust.
10. When you watch black and white movie you will realize why the technology of LCD TV's is still evolving.
Iam a sony man- all my things are sony even my mp3 player- i hate ipod. I wanted to buy SONYW4000 but the price of this one and the reviews comparing both of them lead me to buy this one. And fortunately the reviews are right. This is same as SONYW4000 except for the price and probably the clarity of black and white TV shows are better on it.
