We've now had our TX-37LZD85 for a month, and we're very pleased with it. The picture quality playing PS3 games and Blu-Ray discs is absolutely stunning, although there are some issues - as there always are - with fast, complex or low quality standard def images. Colour contrast is strong (occasionally a bit too strong). There is some fringeing around the edges of, for instance, footballers and athletes, and the TV had problems with the water during the Olympic rowing. But this is to be expected - the image is by no means poor, and I expect things will be much better once we've upgraded to Sky HD.
Overall, we're really pleased with the TV - it's definitely one of the best performing sets I've seen, and represents excellent value for money.

Had this T.V. for about six weeks now, and I must say I am extremely pleased with it. After a bit of experimenting I set it to "ECO" mode, in order to obtain the picture quality I liked most. Freeview is supurb as is DVD playback via hdmi link. Can't fault it. Highly recommended.

I did not rate the picture quality, no matter how I played with the options and settings, as anything but poor. Bad pixilation on round objects, skins tones as if people had thick make-up on and picture background frequently looked out of focus.
Clearly needs strong signal for freeview decoder to work well, most of the time numerous channels where not available but my existing freeview DTB worked OK on same aerial.
EPG very clunky to use and always out of synchronisation with actual transmission.
Remote had to be accurately pointed at TV sensor to get a response and had no swap option to jump between last 2 channels viewed.

This is my 1st LCD TV, after stepping up from a good'old Panny WS CRT, and wow is it nice and visually pretty slick. Set-up was a breeze picking up the 70+ freeview channels instantly.
My PS3 takes full advantage utilitising 1 of the 3 HDMI ports and looks impressive at 1080P with crystal clear images and text, Blu-Ray/Sky HD looks awesome on this TV to. Xbox360 via component sockets is equally good looking running at 1080i and is great for GTAIV/GH3. Dont have a Wii so cant comment on SD (standard def) gaming.
Motion is handled very well with no ghosting/blurring in games, films or TV. Colours are vivid and can be adjusted to taste, dynamic is alittle excessive if you ask me. Blacks are v.good for an LCD with plenty of detail (tho im used to a CRT), Whites are bright, no flicker. The backlight is v.good, it can be a little uneven at times in certain corners but does equal out through use, and is not a problem in normal viewing as its very faint and not noticable on anything but a totally blank black screen (in a dark room).
DVD's look very good, and the upscaling works very well and looks sharp and clean. Sky SD channels equally are v.nice.
The built-in Freeview tuner for me is actually very good considering its being upscaled to 1080P from 576. Being in an area of good reception, the picture is pretty sharp (depending on the source and age of the program, BBC1 Live/New progs are very clear, while your ITV4 1970's show are, well you can guess). Fast motion is handled very well (watching the euro2008 footy), theres little pixalation (tho small players on a green field screen still have a pixalation around them if you look 'real' close. Tones/colour are v.good, but can look abit smoothed at times - I guess this is down to freeviews signal quality and digital compression as much as anything else... But all in all the image is great when at the proper viewing distance. The EPG isnt bad either and is clear and quick. Oh and theres a sleep timer too (incr. of 15mins)
No problems with using the TV via the sky controller (though it was set-up for my old panny TV which appears to use the same settings). The Panny controller is good with nice large solid buttons. Note the infra-red on the TV is in the far bottom left corner so dont block it.
You have 4 Picture Mode settings Dynamic/Normal/Cinema/Eco each of which can be adjusted, bri/con/color/noise_red settings for each Mode are used across all channels/sources, though the TV will remember your Mode of choice for each source.
Only issue I had was a random v.faint buzz which was solved by placing a small bit of foam at the back over the offending spot.
I havent tried the included SD picture card port/viewer so cant comment.
Overall very happy with this purchase, is a great TV for HD games systems/blu-ray and sky HD, Sky SD and dvd's are very clear and freeview is good as well. The sound produced is pretty good too. Recommended! Note the price of this does seem to fluctuate on a daily basis so remember Amazons awesome 30day price-change refund policy, saved me 90!

This is our second LCD TV - we've also got a 26 inch Sony LCD - so partly this is a comparison to that. We don't have any true HD sources yet so bear that in mind when reading.
The DVD looks great when playing DVDs, even when sitting quite close, or off to one side. Colours are vivid and blacks are good, and the TV itself looks great even when turned off.
The motion smoothing technology actually works pretty well. Rival systems can smooth too much, making film look like cheap video, but this works fine. The smoothing system does get caught out though by patterns such as building facades, blinds or fences, and when it does trip up there are tiny flashing squares of corruption on the picture. It happens rarely, mostly during fast pans, but it can be distracting.
The built-in Freeview tuner gives a terrible picture. We have a Sky SD box connected via RGB scart which is vastly better. The Freeview picture seems to be excessively filtered. MPEG noise is reduced admirably but the remaining picture is unbearably soft. Panasonic have a sharpening filter that attempts to compensate, but the result is extremely artificial and unpleasant like some dubious Photoshop filter. The only control available to the viewer is to turn off the sharpening, which gives the most natural result but is quite distractingly blurry. The Sky picture, by comparison looks fine - sharp and colourful.
We also have a Nintendo Wii connected via component cables. Although the Wii only gives out 576i or 480i pictures the component cables should ensure a nice crisp image. Inexplicably this is not the case. Again the picture is overly filtered, with strange blurring AND sharpening effects distorting the picture. In particular text suffers badly, in some cases (The Nintendo Shopping Channel being a good example) the text melts into some strange blurry double-image effect to such a degree its almost illegible. It's actually harder to read the text on this 37" HD TV than it was on the 25" 4:3 CRT that used to sit in it's place! This isn't the fault of the source, which I've checked, it's nasty overzealous filtering of the image which, again, can't be turned off through the TV's menus.
There are some other minor niggles. Firstly, settings like aspect ratio are global, rather than particular to each input, so when switching between a games console and freeview/sky I'm forever having to reset the aspect ratio. Despite owning many different TV's and picture sources I've barely touched an aspect ratio button in years so I thought this particular hassle went out with the 20th century. There is an 'Auto' feature but it just stretches 4:3 sources to 'better fit your screen' - ie fat-head syndrome which I personally hate. Finally, the TV doesn't seem to respond to our Sky remote like it should. I've reprogrammed the remote from Sony to Panasonic but to no effect. Not a crisis, but pretty irritating.
Overall a great TV for watching movies, so-so for digital TV, and quite poor if you're a Wii user. I'm content with it, but only just. I'll be wary of Panasonic TV's in future, due mainly to the lack of control over picture features.
UPDATE
After 5 months, I've got fed up of the glitchy motion smoothing and would love to find a way to turn it off. Anybody know? Also, I've come to notice that the picture from the built-in Freeview decoder bleeds into other inputs. So when we're watching Sky we can very faintly see the Freeview picture!
