What a pain, picture not visable November 26, 2008 I. Harrington (England) I too bought this set from Amazon in November 2006, worked wonderfully for a year then mine too you have to keep switching the thing on/off for the picture to be displayed. Mine is connected to a Panasonic DVD HDD recorder and I thought maybe that was to blame i.e. faulty connections, but obviously this is not the case. I will not be buying another Sharp Product in a hurry. This mean I now have to get a new television just before Christmas. - will be looking to rent one after this disaster.
Sharp Aquous LC-32GD8E November 3, 2008 D S PULLEN I've had this set for a little over two years now. It just recently broke and cost 70 to have the eeprom fixed. One morning it worked fine, the afternoon, it displayed bright blue highlights everywhere resulting in an unwatchable picture. Other than that setback, it's been faultless otherwise. This set produces very vibrant HD pictures - really pop out of the screen. SD depends on the quality of the broadcast, but BBC2 for example can sometimes be mistaken for HD quality (not sure whether it's perhaps a newer firmware on the repaired eeprom... but the picture seems a little better - still has some terrible red push on SD though). The sound is very good. Switching on all the sound options (Clear Voice, Surround, etc) gives a believable sound stage. Sounds like there's someone outside sometimes. Setting up the TV is fairly easy. I'd recommend the auto-dimming contrast thing be switched off. It's not at all smooth when it alters the level and is distracting when watching a film. I've not really seen any current sets so can't really compare this over those that are currently available. I'd guess they are better as technology plods ever onwards and this set is well over two years old now. Would I buy this set again? Not today (I need more than 1 hdmi now!), but at the time it was certainly the better choice, compared to others. Hope this is useful to someone looking at a similar set as I'd say this is probably difficult to get hold of these days.
Faulty March 8, 2008 Mr. L. J. Allan (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this TV 13 months ago, and have loved it. Picture quality brillant and freeview good. But 13 months down the line (yes just after the guarantee run out) it broke. Suddenly turned off and will not start back up. After trying to get through to Sharp (very, very, very unhelpful), the problem is not fixable. Researching on the internet, it appears I am not alone and many people have experinced this and other issues with this TV. AVOID this TV and if all their products are like this AVOID SHARP !!

bought this tv for xmas, after our sony gave up after 12 years!! I didnt choose it, and to be quite honest I wouldnt have picked it, it looks as if it has just came out of star trek, and is not pleasing to the eye, the picture quality isnt that much better, so we put it through in the extention for our son to play his playstation on!! If you want a great picture try a Sony or JVC, we bought them too and havent been disappointed, thats my honest opinion
