Very good entry level TV October 15, 2008

With so many TVs on the market you certainly have a big decision on your hands when it comes to choosing the right one for you. This 32" Samsung has been around since the very end of 2006 and was designed as a high spec entry level monitor for those with value in mind. I have had this TV for 18 months and have had no problems with it what-so-ever. The picture quality of the TV is fantastic with a high definition source such as Sky HD. It might be interesting for you to note however, that this tv is not full hd and will output in either 720p or 1080i. For Sky HD users this is more than sufficient as the maximum resolution on Sky HD is 1080i - noone currently broadcasts in full 1080p hd.
When it comes to blu ray and the PS3 these do output in 1080p, however there has always been some debate as to whether a tv under 40" actually benefits from the higher resolution. All I can say is comparing a high definition Blu Ray movie through the PS3 to a standard definition source, will not leave you feeling short changed - the picture is stunning. A big downside to the TV is the sound quality as mentioned by other reviewers here. This is a downside for nearly all LCD/Plasma screens due to the size of the item - the speakers have to be small or your TV will look more like a CRT screen again. A Samsung surround sound system will compliment it perfectly though.
If you are in the market for an entry level branded TV then you would make a very wise choice here. Do note however, that the TV only has one HDMI input which is why I have given just the 4 stars.

Bought one of these in February 2007 when they were just over six hundred pounds delivered from Amazon. Its main use is as a monitor for a HTPC system, and although there is only a VGA 15 pin connector the quality from a modest Radeon 9600 card is truly excellent at the native 1360x768 resolution (picked up automatically by the PC). Most of my viewing is done in the evening with subdued lighting, and the picture improved with the brightness turned down and a couple of other minor adjustments (worth spending a few minutes with the manual).
It gets most use for watching DVDs and watching TV from a Nebula (r.i.p.) Digital TV card in the PC with the sound fed through my HiFi. Very pleased with the picture quality. I also sometimes use it as normal PC monitor from my chair about 9 ft away (with a Microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse), where it gives very clear text.
I did try the inbuilt Freeview tuner and speakers when I first got it, but the results were not as good, especially the sound, which is acceptable for everyday use but nothing to shout about. I tried routing the sound through my HiFi, but for some reason there was then a delay between the picture and the the sound coming from the Samsung audio out socket, and I never got to the bottom of that. No synch problems though when used as above with the video and sound both coming from my PC, or when just using the inbuilt Freeview tuner and speakers.

I've searched for HD televisions for over 1 month, and finally bought this TV in september 2006, and since then never had a problem. The TV should actually cost more than it is because it is great, especiallyif you play XBOX 360 on it, the picture quality is extremely great.

This TV lasted 12 months an 2 weeks and is therefore out of warranty. Samsung tech support tried various combinations of "engineer" settings to no avail- The Freview and HDMI socket still do not work.
No call backs as promised by Samsung UK.
Incidentally my YPK3 Samsung mp3 player lasted 3 weeks!
I will avoid Samsung products in future.

I can not get this repaired under warranty, and they ADMIT I have the warrant! I have spent hours on the phone, taken two days off work waiting for a service call that never comes.
They say there is NO SERVICE CENTER IN SAN DIEGO CALIFORNIA!!! I have in home warranty service and they say that in the huge metropolitan area of San Diego, they have no one that repairs the TV.
I can not believe the horrible service... horrible..
