I was VERY reluctant when purchasing this tv last week due to the fact no one has written a review on it. I'm very curious when buying items like this and do my reading and shopping around 1st.
My aim was to buy a lcd tv to accompany my 32" Sony that I have in my sitting room, this one for my bedroom so I can move my ps3 back and forth for gaming and blu ray watching. I wanted something 19-22" ish, a decent brand, without spending too much over 300.
So, after much shopping around I finally decided upon this 22" Samsung LCD at the excellent price of 260 with postage ( 90 LESS than the John Lewis website). It arrived without a few days.
My first impression was that is a very good looking, sleek tv. And looks wise I do rate it more than my Sony 32S3000. Although I did think the remote felt and looked a little cheap compared to my Sony.
THE PROBLEM:
BUT to cut a long story short the tv did not do the job I was buying it would. The ikea chest of draws at the bottom of my bed sits 123cms in height and when placed on top, with me lay down in bed a matter of metres away the screen is unwatchable, especially on dark scenes. Ok I'm aware that LCD tv's can have a limited field of view but I really didnt expect what I was confronted with.
THE SOLUTION:
This tv either needs to sit pretty much eye level OR it needs wall mounting with a tilt mount. And I have found this seems to be the problem with all LCD tv's of around this size. So please be aware of this as I wasnt fully. I went to currys and they do the perfect wall mount with tilt for a tv of this size and weight for 35 (I'm sure you can pick them up alot cheaper on here though). BUT as my apartment has very thin walls I dont feel too confident with the whole wall mounting solution. So at the moment I've moved my 32" Sony into my bedroom, which can I add looks perfect picture wise, and I have the Samsung in my sitting room for now until I decide what I want to do (new furniture?).
I know one thing - I deffinetly dont want to return this tv. It looks great. It has pc input which I wanted so I can plug in my laptop and watch movies online through it. And it was deffinetly the best value for money I found, I'm sure you wont find better!
Its a great tv for its price!
