Already owning a 32"Bravia guided my choice .I found the 19" equally good. Perhaps the '1'star previous rating was based on the analogue mode. It happened to a neighbour with a panasonic-a switch to digital cured the fuzy picture.
Sony BRAVIA 19" Widescreen December 28, 2008 D. Jones (Douglas, Isle of Man Great Britain) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
Bought this as a second tv for watching DVDs and have been very pleased so far. The picture is sharp with natural colours given a decent source on the 720p HDMI input. On a quick test 1080i did not improve things. We also got excellent results using the SCART inputs and RGB from a Philips DVD player. Sound is ok but that is a limit of the chassis size. Have not had a chance to try the tuner side yet. It is easy to set up with decent on-screen menus and a logical layout for the remote control. For what I paid I am very pleased and would buy again.
The worst picture I've ever seen on a new tv November 28, 2008 person (UK) 68 out of 97 found this review helpful
This purchase was my first move from CRT tv's to an LCD tv. Not knowing too much of the market, I opted for Sony's Bravia model purely on brand strength and that the model had received plenty of great accolade. Straight out of the box, it was a thing of sleek beauty and I was anticipating a gorgeous, sparklingly clear picture with a vibrancy of colours that their adverts all marketed towards. How wrong could I have been. The picture was dull and there was no sharpness to anything. I altered all settings, but even with the brightness turned up, and the sharpness to its highest setting, and the back-light at its limit, the picture was appalling. Nothing was properly in focus, the quality was slightly grainy and just overall really disappointing. It got the thumbs down from everyone in my family and made us feel like we needed glasses, that's how fuzzy the picture was. Needless to say, it went straight back to the shop for a refund. I'm now back in the dark ages with another CRT tv, but the picture quality is fantastic. I hope all LCD tv's aren't like the Bravia.
