I was looking at this TV for a while at Currys and knew that if I had to take LCD its gonna be my choice, the sales with blue ray player made it easier to decide. I bought it 2 days ago and got it delivered yesterday, I read the review on the 656 model and downloaded the update for the LE765 from Samsung UK (also for the blue ray) ready, I also copied the recommended setting for the 656 model from HDTV TEST.
I got the tv and blue ray yesterday, it came with the stand and was very easy to set up. I plug in my usb to install the update, did the same for the blue ray both easy set up. Then I connected everything I own including my pc, everything works fine and very easy to navigate.
The blue ray player unbelievable! Even the normal DVDs I had to check if I wasn't watching a blue ray. I read somewhere that the blue ray has problem that was solved with the update, I guess it helped that I updated. I advice regular check for update; the good thing with Samsung unlike Panasonic is the upgrade ability of the software.
The recommended setting from HDTV test is perfect, the black is as good as plasma's though I expected the update to automatically set the TV to the best viewing condition (it didn't and I had to do it myself with the recommendation). This TV is a beaut even the remote.
if you plan to upgrade your sky to hdtv you should do it a month before you buy the tv, I called to upgrade and could only get it in February.

I bought this television (not through Amazon I might add) 5 days ago after much deliberation and investigation. The setup was simplicity in itself, once out of the box I plugged it into my loft aerial (which is not specifically for Digital receiving) and my cable SD STB, switched on the TV and it auto set up everything. The picture quality from the cable box and Digital is fantastic, although some broadcasts are shown to be lacking a bit in definition by this set. The terrestrial broadcasts are not as high quality, so I have turned off terrestrial altogether now. The general TV settings are ok and good to get you up and running, however if you like tinkering to get the perfect picture for each use (e.g. sport, movies and games) there is plenty of scope, there are plenty of online forums to give advice on this. I was concerned about some negative comments about the speakers of previous models of Samsung TVs, however I have found the audio aspects of the set to be more than adequate for my needs and comparable to my previous Toshiba CRT. One of its best features is that it plays Divx, music and photos directly from a USB stick.
After initial setting up I plugged in the Samsung Blue Ray player that came free with the set. Again once connected with an HDMI cable it was recognized straight away and can be controlled via the TV remote. I have watched I Am Legend in HD, WOW, along with plenty of others I was skeptic about whether it would be worth paying for a player, but as it came free it was not an issue. I have also played Minority Report on a normal DVD through the player, it up-scales it beautifully.
I haven't played any games through this set yet, but that will be remedied at Christmas when my son gets his PS3.
In summery this is a great set with more features than you can shake a stick at. I can't wait to get an HD cable STB to complement it.
