using full hd takes its toll! June 3, 2008 D. P. Crabbe (uk) this tv was great for the price - got a good picture after tweaking all the options etc. Great high def too. weekly planner is pretty basic and takes about a second to change the channel after pressing the button! would give it 4/5 but after watching a few bluerays and playing ps3 using 1080 it started to overheat more and more often so had to send it back. It just started turning itself off...
Great TV but won't work with older XBox 360 November 12, 2007 Mr. Steven A. Black (Nr Dundee, Scotland) I reluctantly returned this TV to Amazon for a refund as it suffers from a problem when used with one of the older non-HDMI XBox 360s. Every 15 minutes or so the screen goes black for a few seconds then resumes. It quickly became very annoying hence the return for refund. After reading AV forums I bought a Microsoft VGA cable to connect the XBox but the TV wouldn't accept the 1080p signal from the XBox, only the 720 signal. As I'd bought the TV purely to see the XBox in all its HD glory I decided to return the TV....
Worth the money October 2, 2007 Mark (UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
If you're thinking of buying this, don't hang about. The picture is fantastic. The onboard tuner(s) picked up everything at first attempt, both analogue and digital. I've hooked up a PC to it (DVI-D to HDMI at 1920x1080) resolution and it's stunning. I have a few minor quibbles but nothing to justify docking stars. 1) The button for cycling through different aspect ratios is not on the main remote control panel, but under a little panel at the back of the remote. It's something I change a lot and it's inconvenient. 2) The OSD (on screen display) is a bit large and chunky for something which has such high resolution capability. As a result the text is often hard to read because there isn't enough room to display much of it. If anyone can tell me how to alter the resolution for this, I'd love to know, but I suspect you can't. 3) It's slightly slower at changing channels than I would like - not enough to be a nuisance, but enough to be noticeable. Overall though, it's got everything I wanted from a TV, plus many extras, and at 42" it makes my old 32" widescreen CRT look like a portable!
Overall very good, a couple of minor quibbles... August 24, 2007 Jerome Grasdyke 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Great screen, decent sound, nice styling of the outside. Setup was straightforward, giving some good results out of the box. Colour fidelity is excellent, although I have to say I've found my Sony HD recorder does a marginally better job with the SD upscaling when connected via HDMI. There's some good options for controlling dynamic sound range which I like, and several different preset settings for screen and colour intensity. The virtual surround sound is pretty good, and there's access to the digital radio channels too. One issue I did notice was with the dynamic backlight stepping down a notch on a few (very rare) occasions where it shouldn't - on some deep space scenes in Star Wars for example, the average brightness of the screen dims down a fair bit when the Millennium Falcon zips off into the distance. The EPG on the TV's digital tuner is functional but looks a bit ancient and unloved, which is not a problem since I hardly use it. On the whole, I'm very happy with it.
specs and what it will do August 23, 2007 Ascii (UK) 0 out of 8 found this review helpful
the adapter fits in the RGB pc input and allows 1080P input if you've got upscaling dvd etc
The VGA/component adapter does not allow 1080p 1920 x 1080. It will do 720p over component or VGA and the max you can get over either of these will be 1080i not 1080p you will only get 1080p from the 2 HDMI So for a PC you will only get 1080p if you use a cable that has HDMI at one end and DVI at the other. Everyone that is using this for xbox 360 watch out for the screen just blanking out for no reason for approx 2-3 seconds when using either VGA or component. Other than that the TV is excellent apart from the banding on mine, not as bad as some I have seen but still has banding
