My Zen has gone dead 3 months after it's one year warranty has expired. Creative first told me that they wouldn't repair it so I pointed out that as a customer who had bought a Zen V, a Zen Vision M and a sounddock, they should re-consider their viewpoint.
Their answer - We can't repair it because we don't have stocks of Zen Vision Ms nor do we have parts, but you can buy a new one from us.
So, BUYER BEWARE!
CLEARLY, CUSTOMER LOYALTY MEANS NOTHING TO CREATIVE. GUESS WHAT GUYS - ANOTHER LOST CUSTOMER DURING A GLOBAL CREDIT CRUNCH - SMART MOVE.

Mine generally worked fine for about a year. Then I began having all sorts of firmware problems and the player kept needing to reboot. Eventually the computer failed to recognise it, so I couldn't update, and the player crashed and will not play anything. I am left with a usless black box. Will cost 60 + to get it fixed so I will buy a new player. It definately won't be from Creative.

I agree with all those who side with its great sound etc. With that side of things I have no problem. However, I have had mine for little over a year and have spent most of that year waiting for my player to return from Germany where I have to send it to get it repaired or replaced. So far I have had a new one and the mother board replaced. Now just outside of its warranty and no surprises its gone dead again. Someone else I know who has one has had a similar problem.

What else can I say really that has not been said already?I love my Zen. I was after a device that was compatible with multiple formats. No need to worry about spending time on conversations and this is what the Zen offers. I did considdr the Ipod but it does not come close. Sure, it looks more slick but is let down by the restricted features and formats available. It does not support multiple movie or music formats like the Zen. It only outputs to 320x200 I believe to the screen unlike the Zen which gives a much better resolution and the Zen comes with extra features such as radio built in. I use my Zen almost every day and I am not disappointed.
I must admit the only negative thing I have to say is I really wish it was touch screen and had WIFi like the Ipod touch. The controller takes half the size of the device when watching films so I am now carefulyl considering the IPOD Touch although for a different purpose and that's connecting to the Internet and using downloaded apps from the web.
Overall I rate the ZEN 10/10. I went for the 60GB version when on sale on Amazon and I could not be happier but bring out a touch screen version with WIFI.... please!

I read a lot about this player not only the reviews on this site and I got the impression that this was worth spending so much money for an advanced player. I didn't want an iPOD and thought this was a good alternative but after over 6 month I am hugely disappointed with this product.
I find it extremely difficult and time consuming to get a video playing and if it's finally done the quality is usually very poor, the picture far too dark and I have not found anywhere to adjust it. The player also freezes quite frequently and creative support is basically non existant. The two stars are for the mp3 player, which is ok, but for this money, size and weight this is simply not enough. No creative for me any more.
