Beauty is the Beast September 18, 2008 M. Goodworth A stunning looking player that rivals any other MP3 player in the style stakes, just such a shame that it lets you down so very badly, so very often. For a start the battery life sucks - I have a Creative Zen Vision that lasts about 5 times as long as this on one charge, and thats with a full colour screen and MP4 playback. Then there is the fact that it freezes about once a week, meaning you have to reset it and in doing so, lose all your music. This is followed by the harrowing trial of attempting to put your music back on the player - the first few times, quick simple, and totally hassle free - now its seems as if the 6320 has some kind of aversion to WMP. It takes hours for it to sync, and freezes more times than I've had hot dinners. All in all, this is a shocking piece of equipment that could have been amazing if just a little more care had gone into it.
Update the firmware July 24, 2008 PashDA (Leeds UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having read through the reviews here I wanted to stress how important it is to update the firmware to the latest version - 2.4. This is freely available from the Philips web site and installation is easy. The player no longer freezes, and is then compatible with Windows Media Player 11. The negatives for me are - having to use Windows Media player, the radio not working, the lack of a single USB cable to carry as a spare.
Best ever buy July 22, 2008 Mr. Owen Rochester (Scotland) I have to say this is the best purchase i ever made. Ive had this player for nearly two years and have never had a fault. I am still using the same headphones that were supplied in the box, despite thousands of miles of travel and almost constant use. The Battery life seems to last forever and i have been known to find it still playing 24 hours later.
Worst customer service.........ever!!!!!!!!! May 5, 2008 J. Probert (Cornwall, UK) Player is fine until things start to go wrong then they really go wrong, freezing, losing all your files and finally the please connect to your PC message only to find that your PC does not actually recognize the player. This is however only the beginning of your problems as you then have to deal with the Philips "customer service" department although they appear to have no concept of what those words actually mean. Three months after reporting the fault I've had the player returned unrepaired made 30+ phone calls had seven pick-ups arranged when the courier did not show up and despite promises of updates not once have I received a phone call or e-mail. For your own sanity and peace of mind I would recommend avoiding at all costs.
HDD6320 Looks good, but beware... March 26, 2008 C. Kelly (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Adv.: Looks good, big storage, cheaper than IPod. Dis: Very poor durability, often freezes, seems there are some faults and support is awful. I'm so disappointed with my Philips Gogear HD6320 that I felt compelled to write a review and warn people to not buy it... I purchased my GoGear from a seller on Ebay shortly after Christmas 2006. The seller was a perfectly honest gent, who not only supplied the MP3 player still in the cellophane wrapping, but also supplied the receipt with it in case I needed to return it at any stage. The first thing I noticed was how slick it looked and how nice it was to navigate. The only thing about it's appearance that I don't like is the power switch, which seems cheap for such an otherwise expensive looking machine. The second thing was, it was slow to transfer files... but that was fine. I could wait. The earphones provided, though a little flimsy, weren't too bad and so I stuck with them (having spent a lot on the MP3 player I couldn't afford to buy a really nice set of earbuds). The sound was fine and, though I experienced the MP3 player freezing sometimes, it was always easily rectified and never too much hassle. Towards Christmas 2007 (Having had the player for nearly 12 months) the earphones began to lose the sound in the right ear. Thinking nothing of it, I asked for new earphones from my better half for Christmas and waited eagerly to use them. When I plugged them in the right ear still didn't work. I tried another set, they still didn't work. Because the manufacturers guarentee was now up (12 months after the original purchase) I e-mailed Philips for some advise. They were less than helpful stating that a repair would cost nearly as much as I actually paid for the MP3 player. A couple of weeks later the sound began to randomly work again and did so up until last weekend. The new earphones were expensive and the sound was so much better through them. However, a week ago the sound dropped in and out again and eventually stopped coming through (in the right) altogether. I was obviously unhappy and tried my earphones in my friends MP3 player... the right earphone still wasn't working, which made no sense. I plugged his earphones into my player and still no sound through the right earpiece. Now both the player and the earphones weren't working. I purchased another set of expensive earphones but unfortuantely, there is still no sound through the right earphone on the MP3 player, but the earphones work in everything else. This leads me to believe that something in player is faulty and is also blowing the right earphone as well. I won't risk putting the earphones back in the MP3 player incase they blow again... I now can't use the MP3 player and will be saving up for an IPOD. I wouldn't recomend it.
