I've had my Archos for some time now. It is quite simply the best present I have ever been given. I rarely use most of its brilliant features, I mostly play music, but I use it ALL the time. It plugs easily into the home stereo, or I attach it to a wireless FM transmitter for the car or just carry it around with the earphones.In fact the only thing I replaced were the earphones...not that there was any problem with those supplied but the player has such a fantastic sound quality I had to splash out on some really good ones. I've listened to many other players including my sisters ipod, and quite simply the quality of sound from the Archos is in a different league. If I had to have a complaint it would be its a bit bulky to carry around... but I think for the superior quality and extraordinary features its well worth it. Would recommend to anyone.

I've just purchased this through a German company selling through Amazon for quite a bit less than what Amazon sell it for. For the price it is brilliant, I paid less than an I pod and it does so much more. One of the best features for me is that it plays divx movies which are practically dvd quality at a fraction of the file size (you can buy software that rips dvds to divx). It can record direct from your digi or satalite box and also comes with it's own romote control which operate the archos when it is attatched to it's cradle. You can play back movies or recordings on your tv instead of watching them on the imbuilt lcd screen, even when viewing on a large screen the movies look brilliant. The only problem that I have seen as yet is that when viewing photos on the archos they don't look as good as a computer or digi cam screen, but this was less noticeable once zoomed in. The hard drive could be larger (20gb) but for the price I paid I'm not complaining.

I have only had the Archos AV400 since Christmas and it is amazing. It has a Video recorder, photo viewer, photo storer, music player, external hard drive and more all rolled into one. I personally don't print my digital photos anymore- the screen size is sufficient to show people photos on. On the screen, the recorded media offers crisp, sharp playback with one touch recording and no start delay. The timer recording facility of 'shedule' is very useful and so is the remote. I strongly recommend this device to anyone with any need for it.

A fantastic piece of kit which does everything. I have even dropped it and it still works perfectly!! It handles all types of file and the recording of TV function is fantastic! I have recorded DVD's on too it which is great. The only drawback to that is they get encrypted and can only be watched on the AV400. That, though, is the only drawback of the whole thing. Great ase of use, very simple layout, great functionality and windows and mac compatibilty. Great clear photos, good track layout, great video player, clear layout. WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT??!! Highly reccommended from me!

A great little gizmo. It's a little bulky compared to some of the newer portable media players but it more than makes up for that with its screen size, quality, features and ease of use.
A major plus is that you do not have to use software such as i-tunes (although you can). Windows XP will automatically recognise it as another drive and you can just drag and drop your files into it. Another plus is that it records media as well as playing it.The only negative is that the supplied travel case is a little awkward as you have to keep sliding the player in and out to get at the controls. It should have been bundled with the stand up travel case. If you buy this you buy a portable hard drive/video recorder/video player/music player/photo album all rolled into one lovely little package. Top quality.
