Not perfect, but close January 8, 2009 David Allsopp (Worcestershire, UK) Does what it says on the tin. Good audio quality (if you add decent earphones), although I ended up selected the 'jazz' equalisation, even for rock music. Easy to use, and well-made, though control wheel a little 'loose' for my taste. Easy to accidentally press controls when in a pocket, although you can deal with this easily using the lock facility. Acts as a USB drive - just drag and drop music into the appropriate folder. Can display images even without resizing using the conversion utility - but can't zoom into large images. Can't display large videos without conversion (not really surprising). Can't use the device whilst it is charging (via USB), and getting the cable in and out is difficult without removing the headphones. Uses a big flat connector rather than a micro-USB, which is a shame if you wanted to store other files on it or update the music often. No line-out socket; haven't tried driving an amp from the headphone socket yet though. Radio works fine, although you can't name the stations - you have to remember which frequency is which or just browse through the presets. You can record radio programmes as well as voice. Would be nice to have a more flexible way to select rated music (e.g. all 5-star tracks, all 4-star tracks, all unrated tracks, etc). If you have a lot of tracks, the alphabetical list is unmanageably long - could do with some way to skip from A to B,C etc
A great player, but at first we thought not December 31, 2008 M. P. sourbutts (Derby, UK) I bought the Sansa Fuze 8 Gig player for my wife because of the good reviews but also because one has the opportunity to add memory with a micro sd card (up to a further 16 gig). When she unwrapped it, there appeared to be a problem; the tracks were occasionally skipping. After further observations, it turned out that the headphone lead wasn't pushed in fully. Now it works perfectly, the radio tuner is good, you can record your own voice or record gigs etc, the volume can be switched between safe and loud and you can view album artwork...it's just a great player and very good value for money. We happy Vincent?...we happy.
Good little mp3 player December 2, 2008 Gillian Waldron (UK) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is an excellent little player for the price. Nice and easy to use with easy volume control. Size is nice and small to fit in a pocket and has an easy 'lock' so that it is not accidentally turned off etc. I would recommend this player.
Lovin this! November 24, 2008 WOIM 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Bought this on super saver deliver and couldn't wait to get it out the box. Looks good, works great, the features of a Nano plus unlimited extra memory, radio and recording. It even came with some pre loaded music (granted not all to my taste) and pics - what more could you want! I've yet to use the video editor but the Sansa website is a doddle to use, and music download speed to the fuze is impressive. Buy it!!
Great little player! November 9, 2008 M. Harper (UK) 24 out of 25 found this review helpful
Sansa Fuze 8gb MP3 Player Black A great little device that in my opinion is a better and cheaper alternative to the ipod Nano. Another advantage is that it doesn't tie you to itunes. In MSC mode you can drag and drop your files just like a USB memory stick and works under Windows XP / Vista, Linux or MAC OS. That or use WINAMP or similar to sync to it. It has expandable memory which fully integrates with the main memory if you run out of space. Its styling and size are very similar to the Nano, but maybe not quite as stylish if that sort of thing bothers you. That said, the build quality feels good in the hand and the rubber mechanical wheel has a much nicer feel to it than a touch sensitive interface. The screen is nice and clear with an easy to use graphical interface. Again maybe not as stylish or as high resolution as the Nano but devices of this type are primarily for audio and maybe looking at a few photos. I wouldn't fancy watching much more than a short video clip on a screen of this size. Audio quality is a bit subjective but most reviews out there praise the Fuze for its audio quality. I can't disagree with them! Just replace the earphones that come with it. Not very comfortable and could be of better quality. I bought a pair of Creative Labs EP-630s which are quite good for the price. I can also recommend the Sennheiser PX100 headphones if you prefer not to have something wedged in your ears! Since its recent firmware update it's worth mentioning that there is improved file support now including "Ogg Vorbis" and "FLAC". Details of file support as of last update:- Audio Books: Audible, Overdrive File Support: MP3, OGG, FLAC, WMA, secure WMA, WAV, Audible, MPEG4
