Product Description Canon has added to its Digital IXUS line with the 950 IS, an ultra-compact and stylish digital camera. It has a built-in 8-megapixel CCD sensor, and combines an optical image stabiliser with a DIGIC III image processor to improve exposure, colours and visual rendering. You%u2019ll be able to monitor all your shots thanks to the 2.5%u201D LCD screen and focus on a particular object or face, for example. This Canon camera includes a face-detection mode for harmonious photos with stamped-out shadows and more homogenous lighting. The IXUS 950 IS has an ISO sensitivity of up to 1600 that adapts to any exposure conditions. In addition, this camera includes Canon's exclusive %u201CMy colours%u201D mode, an anti-red-eye mode and several scene modes such as saturated, neutral, softened, and of course, sepia and black & white. Capable of recording short video sequences, the IXUS 950 IS will win over young photo enthusiasts who are keen on entertainment!

compact and cute December 22, 2008 Rajneesh Thapa (UK) Excellent camera !! nice looks and performance, fits in your pocket, clear sharp pictures, super video quality and very sensive to sound . The only flaw was decrease of video quality when you zoom in.
Quality camera but bad customer support July 7, 2008 Mr. Andrew G. Martin 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I got this camera for Christmas and loved everything about it...got some quality macro shots and fits in your pocket nicely so good to take everywhere. Sadly after 6 months the dial wouldn't stick on video mode and amazon said they couldn't replace as they had none in stock (although it showed stock online just at twice the price) and couldn't repair it. I now regret not taking it elsewhere to get it fixed as it is a great camera apart from that 1 issue...I'm now trying to find it for a reasonable price elsewhere.
GREAT CAMERA. BE WARY RE UNIDENTIFIED IMAGES WHEN SD CARD NEARLY FULL. June 22, 2008 Chris Gale (Teesdale, England.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used this camera to take about 800 pictures and 20 short movies in the past year. Portable but not too small for my big hands. Easy to use. Picture quality excellent on photos, not so good on video (but useful, fun, and easy to use when I'm only able to take camera in my back pack when I've kids things to carry as well). The only trouble I had was when a Hama high speed SD Card 4g was close to capacity and I started to lose some of the images I had taken when I reviewed them again due to unidentified image errors (which I note another reviewer has referred to). Since then I have switched to 2g SD cards from scandisk and these have so far proved reliable.
very very good camera June 12, 2008 Mr. Adam P. Kelly (Manchester, UK) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
everything about this camera is very high quality from the metal casing to the screen. the pictures come out amazing almost everytime. pionting and shooting is as easy as a camera can be. the image stablizer works brilliantly. macro is great. and there are so many ways to customize your settings you can achieve very professional results. i really cant over emphasize that this is the camera to get. forget the fact you can get more mega pixels than this. you wont need better quality than this produces. and the ease of operation and speed of everything just adds to the overall feel of quality. everything seems to happen instantainiously. you press on and its there in less than a second. literaly. switch to review mode. under a second. no messing. the no battery indicator is only slightly annoying as the battery lasts ages. you'll easily get 200 pics with flash.
Fantastic little machine! June 4, 2008 Helen Lievesley (Worcester UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I almost went for a dSLR instead whose customer images had better clarity, but the compactness of this won out, so I just crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. I love it. Performance It performs really well in a night setting though you have to use the manual options to get the best out of it. The rest of the time I've used the auto function and am stunned by how well it does. I've just come back from a very wet week walking in the Cevennes in France. The camera ignored the fact that my waterproof gear failed totally and carried on taking great pictures even after getting drenched. Quite a few photos were taken while being driven along bumpy mountain roads at 40 mph plus. Ok, some blurred alittle, but most are crystal clear, so 10/10 for image stabilisation! When I downloaded the pictures onto the pc, they're incredibly clear, and can be magnified far more than I had anticipated, it's like having binoculars in retrospect. Packaging The camera itself is small, light, comfortable to use and dead simple. The LCD screen is a great bonus, especially with the intelligent image orientation (turn the camera and the image follows suit). All of the functions are easy to access, and there aren't so many in one area that you have to scroll for ages to find what you want. Options I took the advice on here and bought a spare battery. While it's handy, it's not necessary as the warning gives you at least another 20 photos in point and shoot mode. I played it safe and swapped to the spare before the first battery ran out, so I'm not sure how much further it could go. This was all using the LCD preview screen which is supposed to eat power. Definitely buy the bigger memory though. I have 2GB in it now and the 250 high clarity images I took barely made a dent in it. It takes the hassle factor away. All in all, I'm so glad I turned down that dSLR! I'll try to upload some images so you can see what it can do in the hands of a rank amateur.
