I first used this camera when I was on a fieldtrip to Berlin. This camera is awesome, it works in all environments, even snow and iot takes 10mp digitally enhanced. This is the first camcorder I have owned and it truly impressed me.
 Sound & Video Quality Poor December 21, 2008

Having moved away from my previous DV Camcorder in favour of this SD Card Camcorder, I was sadly dissappointed.
I bought this camera for its wheather proofness. This is the best feature of this litte camera. Picture quality is poor at the best of times ( and I'm wasn't expecting much), but in low light conditions it's just horrible.
But the worst feature is the sound quality. Beacause the camera is so small you find your hand moving to get comfortable whilst filming. This rubbing movement on the camera case is amplified by the unit's microphone and ends up sounding like a heard of elephants charging towards you on playback of your movie.
Not sure if I have a bad one or this is normal as no one else has mentioned the sound issue. My advise try before you buy.

I used to try to take pictures of snowboarding, skiing and motorsport friends, but the pictures never did the action justice, now I just video the action and extract stills of the video, I have had some amazing action pictures, I then put them on face book then friends drag them off for there own use, its so simple and easy. I bought a spare battery, and a pair of batterys are good enough for what I want to film in a day, the pictures are pretty good quality for pc screen but not so good for a large tv, I never take pictures with it as with a film you never miss the best bit, I have wiped out boarding many times with it in my pocket, dropped it in snow and still works fine.
its better than any photo camera for the purpose I need and am expecting many more quality pictures this year.
the downsides for me were, its a strange angle to point and film which took me a day to get used to and kept cutting peoples lower bodies off, also if you film for 10 minutes then start extracting stills towards the end, after each still the film goes back to the beginning so you have to fast foward through film to get to next still, can take a while to extract 10 sequence still, I just started recording shorter videos to assist the still recovery.

I bought this to use whilst going about my job as the Powershot G9 i was using is a bit too expensive to risk damaging.It takes great video considering the size.And i was very surprised at the quality of the still shots.One thing that i was really impressed with is the macro mode.One centimetre is very close!.Having two dedicated buttons for photo and video is great.There are a lot of features packed into this little camera.Two things i would improve are the battery life (a 1200mAh would be better) and the overall size.With hands as big as mine it can be a little awkward to hold.

I got this for my son - he is only 9 so I wanted something robust and easy to use. This certainly fits the bill. As it is small it's easy for him to use & quality is good. OK it's not for serious movie makers, but I am really impressed overall.
