Great little DAB clock radio January 5, 2009 S. Howell (UK) I recently replaced my dire Roberts CRD29 DAB which was a nightmare. I couldn't be happier with the PURE VL-60907. It really is good - great reception (the ROBERTS often couldn't get a signal and so 'forgot' the time, so the alarm didn't go off) good sound, nice and compact (smaller than I was expecting), really good features ; especially the alarms - can be set separately weekday/weekend. No humming at all. Wish I'd got one earlier
Good radio, badly executed January 4, 2009 M. Summerfield (Sussex, UK) Quick review: Good bit: Excellent quality reception and sound from a poor signal. Poor bit: Very complicated long-winded multi-button pressing menus to do the simplest of things. (All the thought has gone into sound quality and looks, none into how people are going to use it.) Display dims so much in the dark it becomes difficult to read.
Excellent Alarm Clock January 3, 2009 Mr. T. J. MURRAY It arrived this morning and so far I am delighted with it. I was looking for an alarm for a long time, considering both Wifi and DAB as a replacement to my tired old FM radio. In the end I went with the simpler choice of DAB. This was mainly due to the fact that I couldn't find a reasonably priced Wifi radio that consistently got good reviews for under 100. They all seemed a bit temperamental - the last thing you want with an alarm! The Siesta is very easy to use and I had crisp clear radio piping into my bedroom within about 2 mins of opening the box. The speaker is fantastic quality, thoroughly earning the 5 stars given by WhatHiFi magazine. The alarms are easy to set, with many customisable features including the snooze time. I don't like to give myself too long to snooze in the morning so you can crank it right down if you are like me. The device also includes a very easy sleep function, perfect if you like going to bed listening to some music... All in all I am very happy with the device. If it develops any problems I will edit this review, but otherwise consider it working fine.
Excellent Bedside Radio December 28, 2008 Tara Terrier I feel sorry for Pure. Why? Because whatever they do, they cannot seem to satisfy the great British public. First of all the clock displays were too bright for people, now we have the moaners complaining that the display is too dim! Well, to put the record straight, I can whole-heartedly recommend this great little bedside DAB radio, and, in my opinion they have got the display absolutely bang on. This is a very simple radio to set up and use, and the sound, although obviously not earth-shattering hi-fi, is rich, deep and rounded, perfect for the side of the bed. Please don't be put off by the display debate. The display auto-dims appropriate to the amount of light available. Once the lights go out and you are in a dark room, then the display does dim to an absolute minimum, but it is still clear and easy to read - you really would not want it any brighter when you are trying to get to sleep! Pure have listened to their customer feedback regarding the excessively bright displays and, in my opinion have come up trumps with this one. This is a great little product, so much so we are considering buying another one for the other bedroom. Well done Pure!
Very good clock - Im keeping this one. December 22, 2008 Bosh (Newcastle Upon Tyne UK) This is the fourth DAB bedside alarm clock I have tried. The others being the PURE Chronos iDock, PURE Chronos II and the Sony XDRC705DAB, all of which had to be sent back because they lit the room up like a Xmas tree. This one offers all the same features as the Pure Chronos II expect the screen doesn't burn my eyes out at night. Its the only clock iv tried that is suitable in all conditions. Sound is crisp and I find the alarm management really flexible.
