1 out of 5 stars Absolutely rubbish   December 4, 2007

This device is advertised as a USB 2.0 hub. When I plug in USB 2 devices, Windows alerts that the newly attached device can run faster and that I should plug the device into a fast USB 2 socket.

This makes me think this device is "USB 2 Compatible" i.e. it will plug into a USB 2 socket but the actual unit only provides USB 1 connectivity for any devices attached. Avoid this nasty second-rate hardware it will not give you 4 fast USB ports - it will give you 4 old USB 1.1 ports which are useless for high speed peripherals.

2 out of 5 stars Power supply is inadequate   July 14, 2007

I bought this p[ower USB hub specifically to connect my DVD-ROM which requires two USB connections, one for data, one for power. However, the device seems unable to supply enough power for the DVD-ROM to work consistently. I'm sure it's good for many applications, but not mine. If I plug the DVD-ROM into sockets 1 and 4, it doesn't work; if I plug it into sockets 1 and 3, it does. It's better than an unpowered usb hub, but I guess you get what you pay for ...

When it way working, I tried playing a DVD (video) through a USB 2.0 connection, but the data transfer rate was too low; there was no sound and jerky video.

Excellent product for the price. Powers 2.5 inch hard drive inside media player enclosure that USB ports on PC could not handle.

If you want to get a cheap and stable usb hub, I would recommand to have it. It comes with a power adapter and recognises all my usb devices that enables me to access four usb hard drives together. I am quite happy, so what do you think?
